Five-time winner over 7f-1m, on good ground or softer. Back below the mark from which he won at Ayr this time last year, and there was encouragement from last month's reappearance run. Could be a contender again now.

Dual 7f winner at Yarmouth (on good to firm/heavy). 9lb higher than the more recent of those, a wide margin success last September, and went close again there last time. Big player.

In cracking form during a red hot 10-day spell last month, winning over 7f at both Chelmsford and Kempton (AW) and last time out over 1m (good to firm) at Doncaster. Up 9lb here and in a stronger race, so now needs to raise the bar again.

Triple 6f, winner, two of them on turf on a sound surface. Comfortably held when up to this grade on soft ground here (6f) last time, and now has a fair bit to prove, not least over this longer trip.

Dual AW winner, including over 7f. Placed on both starts on turf, including when 2½L third of nine at Leicester (6f, good to firm) on last month's reappearance. Same mark here, and with 5lb claimed it isn't difficult to see him going close.

Scored twice in succession over 1m at Newcastle last October, but is a little better away from turf than on it, where he was placed in three successive races last season. Well held at Doncaster on his reappearance but drops 5lb and not ruled out.

Won a Beverley handicap (7½f, good) last season from this mark and returns to turf after two recent competitive AW efforts from similar marks. Bit more needed for another win, but not discounted.

Dual turf winner over 6f, both with 'soft' in the going description when trained by Tim Easterby. Back on the same mark as the more recent of those at Hamilton last September. so may show more than he has on four starts for this trainer. Blinkered.

Multiple winner from 7f-1m1½f, though the only one of those she recorded on turf came five years ago on heavy ground at Lingfield. Went very close from today's mark at Hamilton last time, and should be thereabouts if she can produce a repeat effort.

Didn't show much after his first two starts when with Richard Hannon. Went close on his debut for this trainer at Goodwood (7f, good to firm) last month. Couldn't back that up at Leicester last time, so has a little to prove now.

Multiple winner over 6f/7f on all types of ground. Hasn't managed to get his nose in front since October 2018, however, and is not easy to fancy until we see signs that he is arresting the slump.

Sole win came in a Ffos Las handicap (1m, good) almost two years ago, when 11lb higher. Went close in a Leicester seller (1m2f, heavy) last season, but plenty of other disappointments too. Can only watch on debut for this trainer.

Verdict

One or two of these could come back to form now on marks from which they have already been competitive, with My Town Chicago; Shortbackandsides and Perfect Swiss among them. Bell Heather is another with claims, while the in-form Lacan is feared, but another 9lb rise is surely going to test his mettle. Danecase is another last-time winner who should be thereabouts, Start Time is respected, but the suggestion is DUTCH STORY, who is also in good form and acts on slow ground.

  3. Perfect Swiss
