Stepped up on his previous performances when upped in trip on the AW at Lingfield (1m2f, slow), wore first-time cheekpieces (had the run of the race). Hit the line strongly (may stay further) last time, should go on, has awkward draw to overcome.

Looked one who could build on a promising first run of the year straight after a wind op over 1m2f on the AW (mark looked lenient). Turf debut at 1m4f didn't show her in an improved light at Newmarket, could be worth another chance eased in grade.

Gradually stepped up in trip through her 2yo career, ran her best race on final 2019 start over 1m off this mark. Should be suited by further still if ready for this reappearance, has a difficult draw to deal with but not ruled out by any means.

Fair maiden who produced some rather in-and-out performances last year at up to 1m in minor events. Gelded for this year, made a satisfactory return here over 7.4f before being up to 1m2f last time at Redcar (ran no sort of race), something to prove.

Handicap newcomer who may be better than her form figures with pedigree taken into account. Soft ground may have to been to blame for her poor run last time, better ground/longer trip could see her in a much better light, potential in handicaps.

Looks the sort to come into his own in middle-distance handicaps after failing to get the run of the race at Doncaster (10.2f, good/firm) last time. Not really stepped forward as yet, makes handicap debut from a fair mark, one to note in the market.

Fair form at best as a 2yo at up to 7.9f in minor events the transition to handicaps this year has yet to produce any progress in her form. Tried over this trip once before all three starts this year have been below-par, some spark is needed.

Form looks rather patchy although he resides on a fair mark based on his best run. Below form on both starts for this yard looking very one-paced at Musselburgh last time over 1m; has something to prove especially from a wide draw, visor now used.

Showed some potential as 2yo with respect to going handicapping successfully (not converted that view as yet). Did hint at some progress last time at Redcar (1m2f, good), not totally written off with first-time blinkers now used for extra dynamism.

One of three in first-time headgear he's looked a candidate for some help given the lazy way he's gone through races so far. Well held on handicap debut at Hamilton (8.3f, soft), extra distance plus blinkers may help him to produce something extra.

First run for a new yard having shown improved form to win on second handicap start for Kevin Ryan at Thirsk (1m, soft) in August last year. Well held subsequently (win came in weak contest); has a little to prove up in trip on seasonal return.

Third on reappearance at Redcar (1m2f, good) was an improvement on her 2yo starts, deserves credit (came from a poor position). Failed to build on that down in trip last time (1m). modest overall, faces a few with more progression in their make-up.

Three starts for this yard after coming from Ireland have failed to see her make any progress even when stepped into handicaps over 1m at Thirsk (twice). Latest effort was poor, hopes pinned on the longer trip and a decent draw.

Forecasts

Trinity Girl (2/1), Union Spirit (9/2), Swan River (6/1), Philosophical (13/2), Cold Light Of Day (7/1), Kitten's Dream (14/1), Carriesmatic (16/1), Araka Li (28/1), She's A Belter (33/1), Bad Rabbit (40/1), Lady Erimus (50/1), Grand Pianola (66/1), Violette Szabo (80/1)

Verdict

A low-key end to the nine-race card although there are one or two who could progress over this trip and further in handicaps. Trinity Girl deserves another chance after looking all at sea Newmarket (course may not have suited) her mark could well be lenient. Cold Light Of Day and Swan River would very much be in the group that have potential to move forward despite the former having an awkward draw to deal with and the latter still having something to prove. KITTEN’S DREAM is given a tentative vote on his handicap debut as he looks the sort to improve for this sphere, a good gallop would be in his favour. Union Spirit and the first-time blinkered Philosophical are also worthy of note.
  1. Kitten's Dream
  2. Union Spirit
  3. Cold Light Of Day
