In flying form and no shock to see him out under a 5lb penalty as he bids for a third win inside the last fortnight. This is deeper than his last two races but he's been well suited by returning to sprinting and could be capable of a personal best.
A previous C&D winner that is on a dangerous mark just now; needs to better the form of his last two starts but ought to handle the predicted ground conditions and, granted a strong pace, she could be thereabouts; shortlisted.
Things haven't panned out for the mare over 7f lately but she's got the ability to figure at this level (drops in grade form last time) and she may well appreciate the drop in trip. Runs for a shrewd yard; interesting if supported the betting.
Made all to gamely edge a tight finish at Thirsk last month and feasibly treated as she's only 2lb above her highest ever previous winning mark. More to do this time and she likely to be taken on for the lead, so may be vulnerable to a closer.
Solid effort when fourth of 9 at Leicester at the end of June (Inexes was back in seventh); different ground conditions this time but that's not too much of an issue. Does need to overcome the bounce factor in only his second run since October.
Poor form posted in all bar one of his previous eight starts and there were very few positive signs posted when he finished last of nine (at 100/1 odds) on his seasonal return over C&D on Sunday; not difficult to overlook from a betting perspective.
Forecasts
Ey Up Its Mick (11/10), Kindly (4/1), Gullane One (4/1), Final Frontier (11/2), Inexes (10/1), Indiaro (125/1)
There is no doubting EY UP ITS MICK arrives at the top of his game and, given the manner in which he won his last two starts, the 5lb penalty he carries today doesn't look insurmountable. Final Frontier ran well at Leicester in June and, assuming he can build on that performance, he looks a viable alternative. Gullane One won't get things all her own way up front but she too can make this tougher for the selection. Inexes has form to reverse with Final Frontier but is on a handy mark and goes well at this course, so he's another that would be dangerous to underestimate.
- Ey Up Its Mick
- Final Frontier
- Gullane One
