No win since 5f Chepstow contest in 2018 but big run at Haydock (6f, soft; 10-1) last week when finishing second; 2lb higher now but clearly has a chance with a repeat.
Made running and rallied strongly to win over C&D a fortnight ago; his second win last month (also on AW); 3lb higher now but on good terms with himself and worth considering.
Couple of promising runs on the AW last month before meeting trouble and fading in a 6f Leicester handicap back on turf (good; 15-2); has tumbled a long way in ratings but remains with his questions against him.
Does most of his winning on the AW circuits (1-39 on turf); benefitted from clever front-running ride when second at Musselburgh (5f, good; 7-1) 11 days ago; likely won't want to see any more rain.
2-19 on turf and did score here last summer (6f, good to firm; 9-2) but form less convincing afterwards. Left Amanda Parrett over the winter for this yard and 1lb below previous win-mark starting out.
Showed benefit of Beverley return when scoring at Wolverhampton last month (6f, AW; 7-1) and very nearly followed up over this C&D (good to soft; 10-3) when fast-finishing head second since. Up a further 4lb but is in form and should go well.
Went close over C&D (good to soft; 12-1) on second start back but failed to match that effort back here since. Handles conditions and is a former C&D winner if putting best foot forward but clearly not the most reliable.
Experienced sort made winning return at Beverley (5f, good; 13-2) last month and since run decent 2L third at Leicester (5f, good; 9-4f) under 4lb penalty. Up another pound in ratings but should continue to go well in current mood.
Was returning from 258-day absence at Musselburgh (5f, good; 6-1) recently when finding only front-running Gowanbuster too strong (easy winner again since); eased 1lb on that showing and now 10lb below 2018 C&D-winning mark. Contender.
Forecasts
Quanah (2/1), Airglow (9/2), Astrophysics (6/1), Amazing Grazing (6/1), Burtonwood (7/1), Requinto Dawn (12/1), Red Stripes (16/1), Marietta Robusti (18/1), Jordan Electrics (22/1)
A few of these are in form, with Burtonwood and Quanah enjoying success last month, the latter showing good determination when scoring over C&D a fortnight ago. They should be in the mix along with Airglow if he repeats his recent Haydock display. AMAZING GRAZING couldn't haul back front-running winner Gowanbuster at Musselburgh on his seasonal return but he beat the remainder well enough and that rival scored again with ease on Friday. Rebecca Bastiman's charge is 10lb below his C&D-winning mark now and could take this with his fitness boosted by that pleasing return.
- Amazing Grazing
- Quanah
- Burtonwood
