Made steady improvement from his 6f debut over 7f the last twice on Polytrack taking third at Lingfield last time behind a short-priced favourite. Experienced in the context of this race but may prove vulnerable to an improver; better in handicaps.
Yard 0-9 with 2yo newcomers 2020 (5-116, last five years); £20,000 yearling, fifth foal, half-brother to several winners, including 1m winner Character Witness. Dam, winner up to 9f (2yo 6f winner), others appeal more given yard profile.

Stable already 18-79 with 2yo's, this one was easy to back on debut at Wolverhampton (7.2f, slow) recently. Showed some potential amongst a lot of inexperience, should do better for that encounter having finished off well last time, shortlisted.

Yard 1-4 with newcomers this year (1-41 last five years), 18,000gns yearling, fourth foal, half-brother to 2yo 6f winner Represailles. Dam, 2yo 7f winner, half-sister to useful winner up to 12.5f Diamonds Pour Moi, market useful guide to prospects.

Beaten a fair way (11L) on his Pontefract (6f, good) debut although judging by his starting price (25-1) no more than that was expected. Did hint at some ability (form looks fair, second won since), should be expected to improve up to 7f.

One of two runners for this yard who have struggled (unusually) to get going with 2yo's. Well beaten (30L) in small-field minor event on debut at Musselburgh (7f, good), slow away, left well behind, needs major progress switched to AW.

€8,000 foal with a pedigree that doesn't impress on paper but showed ability on debut at Beverley (7.4f, good/firm). May do better over straight 7f here (had problems on bend last time), finished race nicely under a tender ride, possibilities.

Gelded for his debut at Thirsk (7f, good/soft) went with little immediate promise, finishing last of six (beaten just over 15L). Hard to gain much encouragement from that performance as he's switched the AW, others much preferred.

One of two runners from this yard, started 10-1 on debut but looked badly in need of the experience at Beverley (7.4f, good/firm). Slow away, hung left from 2f out, never on terms, should be better for that experience.

Finished just one place in front of It's A Green Thing when both made their debuts at Beverley (7.4f, good/firm), looked in need of run for fitness/experience. Tenderly handled (some promise), ought to do better in future outings.

Stablemate of Lady Bond, decent pedigree, needed experience on her debut at Pontefract (6f, good), offered plenty to work on (not put under any undue pressure). Will be suited by 7f, leading chance, yard yet to have a 2yo winner (0-25) though,

Forecasts

Listen Again (10/3), Time For A Good Un (10/3), Balavad (7/2), Fandabidozi (6/1), Chosen Mark (9/1), Desert Quest (12/1), Party Game (16/1), Boundsy Boy (25/1), Lady Bond (33/1), It's A Green Thing (40/1), Definitely Alright (80/1)

Verdict

The fact that the Tim Easterby yard hasn’t had a juvenile winner yet casts a shadow over the chance of Listen Again who would be the best of these on the form she showed when making a promising debut at Pontefract over 6f. She should along with stablemate Lady Bond make an impression but that juvenile record is a question mark. Balavad is the most experienced of these having had at least two more runs than the rest of the field however he could be vulnerable to an improving type. FANDABIDOZI needs to progress from his debut but this test looks sure to suit him better for a yard who are always to be respected with 2yo’s. Desert Quest and Time For A Good Un two others that should be noted.
  1. Fandabidozi
  2. Listen Again
  3. Balavad
