Related to a few winners but not progressing in four runs and step up to 1m6f at Wolverhampton on h'cap bow last month yielded a poor outcome. Was strong in the betting and too soon to write off for this yard now dropped in trip.

Turf/handicap bow at Ripon last month saw him up in distance to this trip and shaping with a bit more purpose; needs another step forward in first-time cheekpieces now.

Second runner for Mark Johnston; much-improved effort when winning at Hamilton (1m4f, soft; 5-2f) last time out (front two well clear) and there may be more to come carrying penalty for that win.

Unconvincing efforts in three starts to this point, yet to run beyond a mile and now goes up in trip for handicap debut.

Has fared a bit better in two AW handicaps last month after returning from a layoff but still left needing to improve plenty back on turf as last year's maiden form was decidedly poor.

Ex-Sir Mark Prescott filly made a winning start for this yard at Wolverhampton (1m1½f, AW; 16-1) in January; held on next start at Lingfield and put up a dismal showing after 142 days off at Pontefract (1m4f, good) last month. Questions to answer.

Filly improved on handicap bow at Lingfield (1m2f, AW) last month when runner-up and since finished pleasing third in strong Wolverhampton apprentice h'cap (1m4f). Cheekpieces added back on turf and likely to be in the shake-up.

Little to report in three novice starts last year and beaten close to 10L on handicap bow at Leicester (1m2f, good; 33-1) last month. Has to improve markedly to stand a chance up in trip.

Forecasts

Lismore (6/5), Justified (7/4), Thunder King (7/1), Eagle's Foot (8/1), Socially Shady (9/1), Batalha (16/1), Nikolayeva (33/1), Binyon (66/1), America First (66/1)

Verdict

Sir Mark Prescott's filly LISMORE has strong claims here having followed home a pair of useful looking colts on the all-weather at Wolverhampton five days ago. The new headgear may bring further improvement and she's got every chance on form as things stand. Justified is penalised for a recent win at Hamilton but should remain competitive while Eagle's Foot could be good enough to have a say on handicap bow after shaping quite nicely at Thirsk recently.
