Won off 1lb lower at Brighton last autumn, and has claims on that form, but he's not fired in three subsequent outings, and best watched until showing more positive signs.
Had a productive year in 2019, winning four times, and placed over C&D, but he's not beaten a rival on his last two starts. Handicapper refusing to budge, and he remains opposable from a career-high mark.
Won at Fontainebleau for Fabrice Chappet last year, and matched best form on debut for Ivan Furtado at Newcastle in February. Stopped quickly at Southwell last time, though, and has moved stables (in same ownership) since.
Won at Newmarket in September, taking advantage of a drop in the weights. Now 3lb higher and well held on return, but looked to need that run, and will strip fitter as a result.
Stepped up markedly on his reappearance effort when scoring at Redcar last time by ½L from Normandy Barriere. Had race run to suit there, and looks vulnerable having gone up 5lb.
Won at Chelmsford in March, and better than the result when 3L fourth of 7 to Dark Defender at Newmarket last time. Left poorly placed there, and will be better suited by this track, so not taken lightly.
Losing run goes back to 2017, but has plummeted down the handicap and had a wind operation before his return. Looked on the way back when just beaten by Buccaneers Vault at Redcar last time, and should again get the race run to suit, so shortlisted.
Has been outpaced before staying on late on both stats this season, most recently finishing 2½L fourth of 13 to Badayel at Windsor last time. Bit to find on that form, but perhaps a first-time visor may help him race more efficiently.
Was a wide margin winner over C&D last June, and belatedly back to that sort of form when neck second of 8 to Global Hope here (tongue tied) last time. Not certain to be in the same form, but will be competitive if so.
Two wins this year have come over 5f at Lingfield (AW), and he also ran well there last time. Has won over an extended 5½f at Bath, but form over 6f is not so good.

Forecasts
Whelans Way (2/1), Normandy Barriere (11/4), Treacherous (5/1), Spirited Guest (11/2), Rock Boy Grey (7/1), Rasheeq (8/1), Sir Titan (10/1), Buccaneers Vault (11/1), Jungle Speed (12/1), Saluti (12/1), Red Alert (28/1), Equally Fast (40/1), Eye Of The Water (50/1)
Paul Midgley's pair, Buccaneers Vault and Saluti merit respect coming here in form as they do, while NORMANDY BARRIERE was a good second to the former at Redcar last time, and would look well handicapped on his old form, accepting that he's not got his head in front for a while. That was his first start after a breathing operation, and he's worth a chance to build on it as a result.
- Normandy Barriere
- Buccaneers Vault
