Returns from a wind op (his second) having shown some promise in a bumper (on debut) and over hurdles. Failed to meet market expectations on handicap debut when last seen (application open to question), still unexposed though.
Took well to a change of headgear (blinkers) when landing a Kelso (21.6f, good) handicap chase at Kelso by 7L. Way below that level when pulled up at Carlisle when last seen, back from a fair absence over hurdles, questions to answer.
Hit a purple patch in 2019 winning three chases in a row, two of them here over this trip (also has a 20.3f win here to his name over hurdles). Appeared to lose his way after last chase win in September, pulled up last two starts, recovery mission.
Ran poorly when returning from a break on Flat recently (question marks over his attitude these days). Has won twice over hurdles but yet to score in a handicap (handicapper gives him a chance), now in first-time blinkers alongside usual tongue-tie.
Not seen over hurdles since June 2019 having scored over fences prior and after that outing. Failed to complete a chasing hat-trick from a career-high mark in November, form gradually tailed off after that, returns to hurdles after a break.
Slips back to last winning mark gained when winning at Chepstow (19.5f, good/firm) last April under Richard Johnson (rides again today). Below form subsequently in four starts, returns after another wind op (last win came on the back of one).
In good hands, needs to get his career back on track, pulled up when last seen in first-time tongue-tie (ground may have been too testing). Two prior runs over this trip had shown promise, no surprise if he bounces back on better ground.
Worcester novice winner (23f, good), ran with credit in two handicaps subsequently off similar marks to today. Reappeared on the AW (14f) after eight months off, showed up for a long way under positive tactics, run will have put him right for this.
Useful on the Flat (rated 91 at one stage), yet to transfer that form to his hurdling career but still has time to do so. Yet to run over timber for this yard, makes his hurdling debut for them today, tuned up on the Flat, has to prove his stamina.
Successful three times 2019/20 season; had the run of the race for her last two victories at Cartmel (22.1f) and Perth (23.9f). Found life tough off this mark when last seen gradually left behind in an easier grade than this, others appeal more.
Fair hurdler having won twice in handicap company; no match for well-treated winner when last seen back in October 2018. Returns from a significant absence for a new yard over a trip he should enjoy off his last wining mark, fitness not assured.
Finally made amends for a string of placed efforts last summer to open her account at Market Rasen (23.1f, good/firm), stayed on well, suited by stamina tests. Up 4lb for that win this is a better contest, now tried in a new headgear combination.
Forecasts
Easyrun De Vassy (3/1), Magellan (9/2), Jasmin Des Bordes (11/2), Hattaab (13/2), Marble Moon (8/1), Get An Oscar (12/1), Chocolat Noir (14/1), Mr Mafia (16/1), Prabeni (18/1), Sebastian Beach (20/1), Silk Run (25/1), Scooby (33/1)
Some of these are returning from long absences so the cautious vote goes in the direction of HATTAB given a recent spin on the Flat which may have put him right for this test, the relative test of speed at 3m likely to suit him. Wind surgery may elicit a better display from Jasmin Des Bordes who has shown some promise over hurdles. Easyrun De Vassy will be more at home on this better surface and looks a danger while Magellan although yet to prove himself at this trip over hurdles can’t be ruled out, he will be better fir a recent Flat run. Silk Run back on a decent mark after another wind op and fair mark to work with is also respected.
- Hattaab
- Easyrun De Vassy
- Silk Run
