First run for this yard, bought cheaply (£2,000) out of John McConnell's yard in October, fair in handicaps but failed to win for that stable. Operating from a career-low mark now, struggled when last seen, needs this move to rejuvenate him, hood on.

Ended her last Flat campaign in fins style with back-to-back Musselburgh handicap wins at 12.5f/13f off marks of 48/52. Mixed bag of results when sent hurdling over the winter (unseated rider last time), may do better returned to the Flat.

Far from an easy sort to profile making very little impact in four starts fir this yard on AW/turf in 2019 having joined from Olly Murphy. Found very little for pressure when last seen, returns from a break, fails to excite or persuade.

Fair handicapper; won at Brighton last year when wearing a first-time visor off a 1lb lower mark (4-4 at the time at that track). Went off the boil rather quickly after that, showed little on debut for this yard, Ben Curtis booking something to note.

Ended a long losing run (back in headgear) under Cam Hardie at Wolverhampton in March off a 3lb lower mark. Rather chequered profile since then, back to form last time (looked hard ride), can't be ruled out if repeating that run, yard rather quiet.

C&D winner in 2015 off a 3lb lower mark, mostly seen over hurdles for this yard and running well in that sphere when last seen. Now needs to transfer that form into her Flat performances off the back of a break; worth consideration in a weak affair.

Consistent throughout the early part of this year baring a blip on Fibresand debut, ran with credit last time back from a break over a trip (9.5f) that looked on the short side. Strike-rate slight negative but well handicapped on useful hurdles form.

Both wins to date have come on the AW at up to 1m3f (not seen on turf since August 2019), underlined that consistency might not be her strongpoint with a dismal run last time. Has to bounce back from that run on turf, overall an unconvincing profile.

Back from a long absence (16 months) last time, unsurprisingly was very fresh but wasn't beaten that far in a Pontefract 1m2f handicap on good ground. Now below his last winning mark, chance if he can build on that run up 2f in trip.

Lightly-raced maiden on the Flat (all starts on AW) having run in bumpers prior to trying her luck in this sphere. Handicap debut (1m2f, slow) at Chelmsford last time, made little impression, dropped 6lb and upped 2f in trip, questions to answer.

Flat winner at Beverley (9.9f, good) in September 2017, shown very little since then in this discipline and over hurdles. First run at Ripon recently fir over two years, hard to enthuse over his chance from 1lb out the weights.

Forecasts

Liva (10/3), Smart Lass (7/2), Esspeegee (4/1), Calliope (7/1), Thawry (11/1), Convivial (11/1), Bird To Love (12/1), Man Of Verve (14/1), Oakmont (22/1), Compatriot (28/1), Ivors Involvement (40/1)

Verdict

Only modest fare to end the ten-race marathon with hurdling form possibly holding the key to this contest. LIVA looks competitively weighted on his hurdles form having run consistently well on the Flat without winning this grade and a longer trip looking to suit his requirements. The mare Calliope found her form over timber prior to lockdown and she’s also of interest back on the Flat having won over C&D in the distant past. Smart Lass another mare with some reasonable placed hurdling form last winter would be a danger to all if she reproduced her Musselburgh Flat form. Thawry and Man Of Verve also require attention although the former is from a yard that could do with a winner.
