Supported when back on turf to score in a Pontefract maiden (6f, good) on her return to action (Dream Together back in third). One of four making their handicap debuts in this, still unexposed, should have more to give in this sphere.
Still looks a work in progress (gelded since his debut), returned to the track with a good third to Magical Moment last time at Pontefract (6f, good). Handicap debut comes after just two starts, remains open to further improvement.
Took a maiden at Musselburgh as a 2yo (7.2f, good), already has plenty of handicap experience. Performed respectably on return at Newcastle (6f, slow) earlier in the month but wouldn't have as much progress left in her as some of these.
Stepped forward on what he had shown as a 2yo after a break of nearly a year when returning at Newbury (has been gelded in the interim) taking third over 6f. Eased slightly in grade a repeat of that performance is likely to see him go close here.
Soft ground 5f winner of a minor event at Catterick as a 2yo in August he ran well below that level in two subsequent starts. Looked rusty on recent return to action but a return to this sort of ground may help to revive him a little.
Winner of a 0-85 nursery last year (6f, soft) at Catterick he ran well afterwards and looked to need the race on his return at Leicester after 10-months away from the track. Eased in grade, should be sharper, stable could be in better form.
Made a promising start to his career but standards slipped gradually throughout his 2yo career (ended disappointingly) when with Richard Hannon. Still going backwards for this new yard even in headgear last time (quickly removed), best watched.
Best career effort last time returning from seven months off, still look inexperienced (took a strong hold) at Newcastle (6f, slow). Now qualified for handicaps she should do better (smart dam got better with racing), one to keep an eye on.
Handicap newcomer returning from a fair absence having shown only fair form as a juvenile. Twice placed on soft in minor events though so any further precipitation won't be to her detriment, others look better weighted.
Too free when running over 1m last time at Yarmouth on good ground, quickly reverts to 6f (only win came at this trip on soft ground). Has plenty of handicap experience and runs off a career-low mark, may run into one or two improvers here.
Lightly-raced and can't be written off after just four starts although his handicap debut at Newcastle (6f, slow) didn't show a lot of promise for the future. On a recovery mission here returned to turf, best watched until showing some signs of life.
Forecasts
Spring Bloom (9/4), Magical Moment (7/2), Zim Baby (5/1), Twist Of Hay (13/2), Dream Together (7/1), Written Broadcast (12/1), Knightcap (20/1), Leoch (22/1), Red Treble (25/1), Dandy's Angel (33/1), Rapid Russo (40/1)
The way that SPRING BLOOM travelled through his race at Newbury very much suggested that he would be a leading player in something like this and with the strength of that form having already been advertised he looks a worthy candidate here. Magical Moment and Dream Together are closely matched on their Pontefract running with both making their handicap debuts here, it won’t be surprise to either take an event like this. Twist Of Hay deserves a mention along with Knightcap who will be of interest once the stable are in better form.
- Spring Bloom
- Magical Moment
- Dream Together
