Handicap newcomer from a yard in good form who acquitted himself well in three sprint novice races last year. Gelded since he was last seen, he's in good hands and looks the type to do well in this sphere off a mark that looks fair.
Unconsidered in the market when reappearing on the AW to finish a good second to well-fancied/unexposed stablemate Oakenshield at Newcastle (6f, slow). Best effort to date, now has to repeat that performance on turf off the same mark.
C&D winner on his 2yo debut putting in a fair performance but failing to go on from that initial start in three subsequent appearances. Still early days with him though, first try in handicaps, should handle the ground, worth another chance fresh.
Kept busy as a 2yo running 12 times but won only once at Nottingham (6.1f, good). Shaped as if needing the run on his reappearance after eight-months off on the AW at Newcastle (6f, slow), may do better but looks exposed against some of these.
Yard have made a very slow start since racing resumed; offered little on stable debut/reappearance at Newcastle (6f, slow). Never a threat on that occasion blinkers are now applied (first-time) in a bid to find some spark, fails to excite.
Built on her debut promise after a four-months off when winning a heavy ground novice over 6f last October. Back down in trip for her final start on the AW she was well below-par, returns on suitable ground for her handicap debut.
Fair form in three starts as a 2yo, well found in the market for the last two of them (placed in both of them). Handicap debut (one of two from the yard doing that), mark looks fair, should also handle the ground if it deteriorates any further.
Off the mark on her first 3yo start admittedly in a weak race but improving from her two juvenile performances at Beverley (5f, good). Non-runner at Hamilton yesterday, now makes her handicap debut with some further progress expected.
Well-backed in a lower-grade 3yo handicap on reappearance (fresh from wind op) at Doncaster (6f, good), put up and improved showing dropped down from 1m. Cheekpieces now on to eke out some further progress, ought to go well off 4lb higher.
One standout 2yo effort to his name but was well beaten in two nurseries after that both on soft over 6f. Looks the sort to be suited by a little further, likely to find one or two of these two sharp especially off an absence.
Still looked inexperienced when making his handicap debut reappearing at Beverley (5f, good/firm) after eight months off. Still lightly-raced there may be a low-grade handicap in him when the stable are in better form especially at this trip.
Forecasts
Rebel Soldier Boy (4/1), Barbarella (4/1), Foreshore (11/2), What A Business (6/1), Commanche Falls (13/2), Hostelry (10/1), Felicia Blue (10/1), Only Alone (12/1), Iva Reflection (25/1), Brazen Point (28/1), Woven Quality (80/1)
One or two in this as with the majority of 3yo handicaps that should do better now they switch to this sphere. REBEL SOLDIER BOY would be one of them especially with his yard going well at the moment, his three performances last year all good enough to see him take a hand in this. Foreshore appeared a different proposition post-wind op at Doncaster the other day and he could come on again along with the Dods duo Commanche Falls and Hostelry both of whom handle a soft surface. Barbarella and Felicia Blue two others that should be considered in an open contest.
- Rebel Soldier Boy
- Foreshore
- Commanche Falls
