Won four times last season for Michael Appleby and ran creditably second start for current yard when 5th at Newmarket in June, fading inside the distance. All wins have come at 5f though so still has stamina to prove.
Stayed on well over C&D earlier this month to win in good fashion and remains feasibly weighted despite a 6lb rise in his mark. Yard in decent form so should be in the thick of the action once again.
Won three times at 5f-6f last season then gelded during the winter. Caught the eye staying on steadily on reappearance over 5f at Kempton nearly four weeks ago. 3lb rise looks harsh for that fifth place but he won't be far away.
Useful juvenile for Alan King winning two and finishing second in a Group 2. Struggled last term but has run respectably in three starts for current handler without winning. 2lb lower than sixth at HQ on recent return. and wears first-time blinkers.
4-12 at this track and almost always runs his race at this venue. Recent C&D fourth should have blown cobwebs away so off 2lb lower and with Tom Marquand booked there is every chance he will be in the mix.
Progressive 6f handicapper winning 3 of last five last term and scoring again on return at Chelmsford three week ago. 5lb higher but did it nicely last time and every chance he will go close once again.
Veteran handicapper who hasn't won since 2017. Not in great form when last seen in the autumn and will do very well to bounce back here after 225-day absence.
10-time winner, mostly on AW. Won four times last year but has paid the penalty with much higher mark for return this term but has won twice in the past on first start back so can be readied after a break.
All nine wins have come at 7f and 1m and tries sprinting for first time since debut in 2015. May find things happening a little too fast where it counts and is probably best watched for now.
Forecasts
Chairmanoftheboard (9/4), Atalanta's Boy (4/1), Ice Age (4/1), Amplify (11/2), Dunkerron (7/1), Arcanada (18/1), Saaheq (22/1), Charles Molson (28/1), A Sure Welcome (40/1)
Ice Age is always to be feared at this course and a bold show is anticipated, but marginal preference is for the upwardly mobile ATALANTA'S BOY who keeps defying the handicapper and did it nicely when scoring at Chelmsford earlier in the month. Recent C&D winner Chairmanoftheboard is feared despite his 6lb higher mark, while Amplify will appreciate the extra furlong having run nicely first time back over the minimum trip. If the first-time blinkers work then Dunkerron is well handicapped on the pick of his form.
- Atalanta's Boy
- Amplify
- Dunkerron
