Cheekpieces on first-time, modest maiden who was well backed on his last start here over 1m, finished well held without any real excuses. Placed three times over this trip, now runs off a career-low mark in a basement grade, should be thereabouts.
Dual C&D winner back in 2016 (trained by now retired Keith Reveley) off humble marks below today's, not seen since early 2019 (well below form over hurdles). Last Flat run was a second over C&D off this mark, would have to repeat that run at least.
Lightly-raced maiden, yet to run away from this venue having been tried over trips of 6f-1m. Given handicap debut over C&D earlier in the year, failed to make much of an impression of what looked a fair mark, dropped 2lb, may yet get involved.
Made very little impact in four races for Ivan Furtado (tried over various trips), looked different proposition when landing a gamble (first-time hood) on stable debut at Haydock 7.2f, good/firm). 5lb penalty, back on AW, should be more to come.
Stepped up on his first run back from a wind op when resuming winning ways at Chelmsford (7f, slow) in March, suited by the strong pace at the trip. Failed to find anything like the same form when last seen (same C&D), not the most consistent.
C&D winner in February although he's also run so modest/below-par races here, looks to have lost his way over the course of his three starts since that win. Last of seven over 7f at Chelmsford last time, cheekpieces worn first-time in a revival bid.
A Flat career record that reads 1-26 is hardly an inviting one and despite being given a chance by the handicapper since joining this yard he makes limited appeal. Well below form from 1lb out of the handicap when last seen, usual headgear removed.
Not had much racing but made very little impact in minor events and on handicap debut over 6f here off this same lowly mark. Given another go over 7f but would need others to falter to make an impression even at this level.
Forecasts
Juniors Dream (8/11), Midnight In Havana (6/1), Deputy Star (13/2), Irish Times (9/1), Perfect Soldier (10/1), Great Colaci (14/1), Deolali (25/1), Inn With The Gin (40/1)
This closing event has very little strength in depth and connections of JUNIORS DREAM will be delighted to find an event like this as the son of Sulamani bids to follow up his Haydock win from earlier in the week under a 5lb penalty. He showed plenty of improvement for the application of cash on that occasion having shown little before the first-time hood/stable debut other notable features. A quick return and a move onto the AW the obvious question marks to another victory. Deputy Star is still relatively unexposed and looks the main danger along with the consistent Midnight In Havana who wears cheekpieces for the first time.
- Juniors Dream
- Deputy Star
- Midnight In Havana
