Slade Power half-brother to a 6f Listed winner. Justified short odds on debut at Yarmouth (6f, good/firm), despite getting outpaced briefly. Makes debut for new yard having been withdrawn at the start at Newcastle earlier in the month.
Much improved from debut when winning a 1m novice at Chelmsford in November by a head from Al Qaqaa. Gelded since, and will improve again, with the drop to 7f a positive (all out to hold on last time).
First foal of an unraced mare, and sent off 66/1 when down the field on last year's introduction at Sandown. Hooded for return, but not easy to make a case for him.
Cable Bay half-brother to a couple of useful winners, but sold cheaply as a yearling, and yard has a moderate record in races of this type.

Gelded son of Requinto who cost €28,000 as a yearling. Showed little on debut at Lingfield, and while he should know more about the game today, plenty more is needed.

Better effort in novice events at 7f/1m when 6¾L seventh of 12 to Magical Morning at Yarmouth 16 days ago. Still learning on the job last time, and he will continue to progress.
Sir Prancealot half-brother to useful 7f-1m1f winner Bahamas and 1½m-1m5f winner Bayan Kasirga. Gelded prior to this belated debut, and likely to be all the better for initial experience.

Epaulette half-brother to a winner in Italy. Unfancied, but shaped well when head second of 12 to Oksana Astankova in a 7f maiden at Lingfield on recent debut, albeit having the run of things. Should still improve, though, and not dismissed.

Much better effort in 7f novice events last year when second of 11 to King Leonidas here in October. Type to do better still this year, and high on the shortlist as a result.

Knew his job when a front-running fifth of 10 to King Leonidas over 7f here in October, but behind Evening Sun in that race, and will do well to turn the tables, for all he may do better.

€120,000 half-brother to useful winner at up to 1m Baby Foot. Well held on his first outing at Haydock earlier in the month, but not helped by racing freely and getting shuffled back at a crucial stage, so expected to do much better. Visored now.

Forecasts

Evening Sun (8/11), Stepney Causeway (15/2), Lincoln Bright (8/1), Ejtilaab (17/2), Epic Endeavour (14/1), Burano Boy (16/1), Prince Of Tides (16/1), Dashing Spirit (25/1), Adonis Blue (33/1), Arlo's Sunshine (150/1), Billy The Squid (150/1)

Verdict

EVENING SUN stepped up when second to the useful King Leonidas here in the autumn, and is the sort to thrive this summer, so looks the one to be with, ahead of the penalised pair Stepney Causeway and Ejtilaab. The former has more to offer, and given he just hung on over 1m last time, could do better still at this trip.
  1. Evening Sun
  2. Stepney Causeway
  3. Ejtilaab
