Hurdle winner on soft ground last summer, and should be a reasonable performer in this code if able to transfer that ability. Little evidence of that at first glance in a Beverley novice event last week. Can only watch for now.
Has beaten home just two opponents in three starts so far, the first two for George Margarson and the latest at Kempton in February since joining this trainer. Visored for the first time here, but can only watch.
Made a winning start at Leicester (7f) last September, getting the hang of things late on to run on well for a comfortable success. Step up in trip looks positive, and with potential for significant improvement, he can go close under a penalty.
Has the pick of the form on offer here by some margin, trouncing his field at Wolverhampton on debut (1m½f) last December, and then third in Listed company at Newmarket (1m2f, good to firm) last time. The one to beat under his penalty.
Gelded son of Dandy Man who went off at 33-1 and beat just one home when 18L adrift of the winner on debut at Lingfield last December. Hooded this time and looks in need of more experience.
Nice enough pedigree and went off at 12-1 on his debut at Wolverhampton recently (1m½f), when he stayed on but was still a well held 8L fifth of 12. Has a bit to build on there, but likely to have to wait for other days.
Was gelded prior to last season's debut and he was well beaten in both that race at Leicester (7f, good) and on his only other run at Nottingham (1m½f, heavy; first-time tongue-tie) last November.
The standout performer so far has been the Listed-placed WALDKONIG, who looks smart and should have too much for this field on what we have seen thus far. Similarly penalised is Highest Ground, and he is the only serious opponent, but he will need significant improvement on the bare form of last year's debut win to trouble the selection. Perhaps Mersin can be the one to chase them home today.
