Ran poorly last time (unsuited by Fibresand surface), often races lazily, now gets a first-time tongue-tie to go with usual headgear. Both career wins have come on a quick return to the track, below last winning mark, both wins over further.
Ran one of his better races after a break of nine months when second at Yarmouth (7f, good/firm) to a far-less exposed winner. Now back on his last winning mark this looks another decent opportunity dropping down to 6f (both wins at that trip).
Cheekpieces go on for the first-time for this modest former who has yet to win for this yard having won on his final start (7f), good) for his previous yard (Richard Fahey). Not run over this trip for a while, absence to overcome, others preferred.
Losing run starting to extend further (now stands at 18), cheekpieces return for his seasonal reappearance. Normally races at sprint trips (last three wins have come at 6f), well below his last winning mark, 0-6 off absences of 150 plus days off.
Dual C&D winner but not won for not won for nearly two years (fallen way below his last winning mark). Placed twice from 15 2019 starts, tried at 7f when last seen (just looked to be going through the motions), usually races off the pace.
Course winner but like a few of his rivals will be trying to break a long losing sequence (his currently stands at 28). Offered little towards the end of 2019, glimmer of hope based on his 7f second here last July, down in trip with blinkers back on.
Modest at best and still a maiden after 24 attempts; done most of her racing over 5f (0-4 at 6f). Generally looks quite an awkward sort has been tried in various headgear, hard to build a cogent case even at this humble level off a basement mark.
Made very little show during 2019 in four starts only beating rivals home on one occasion (finished last other three). Not raced at 6f since she was with Richard Hannon, all starts over 5f last year, absence/lack of form make her hard to recommend.
Forecasts
Lincoln Red (2/1), Macs Blessings (3/1), Extrasolar (7/2), Corton Lass (9/1), Jessie Allan (10/1), Archies Lad (14/1), Let Right Be Done (16/1), Laoise (40/1)
Not an event that holds any strength in depth with very few of these presenting a sound case. LINCOLN RED looks to have been found a perfect opportunity by trainer Olly Murphy on the back of his Yarmouth runner-up spot and the fact that he is back on his last winning mark just adds to his case and the drop to 6f shouldn’t be a problem. Finding one to push him close isn’t easy despite a few dropping to marks well below their last winning one. Macs Blessings and Extrasolar are both likely to be better for the run but have shown enough in the past to fill the minor berths here.
- Lincoln Red
- Extrasolar
- Macs Blessings
