Slow away when winning at Wolverhampton (5f) last time (suited by strong pace), second run back from a very long absence. Proved that he retains ability, ought to be able to cope with the 5lb penalty, not certain to get such favourable circumstances.

Ran yet another respectable race returning from three months off over 6f last time at Kempton; still failed to end his long losing sequence. Incredibly well handicapped on his old form, has had trouble converting a whole host of good opportunities.

Fair handicapper at sprint trips when with Lee Carter, now makes stable debut having not posed a win threat since being successful over 6f at Kempton in October. Usually races off the pace, most of her wins have come at 5f, no great record fresh.

Consistent enough since joining this stable; yet to win for them though (three runner-up slots) or run at 5f. 1-6 at the trip overall, ran well off 1lb lower at Lingfield (6f) last time, first try at this track, yet to win on Polytrack.

Well held in two starts for this yard in 2020 faring poorly both times doing little to signal that she would be winning soon. First start at 5f for this yard (has won here over 6f), often a front-runner she may face a pace battle with Swell Song.

Modest form for Michael Dods with one standout effort to her name at Southwell (5f). Hopes now pinned on a stable switch/handicap debut rejuvenating her as she tries Polytrack for the first time; hard to be convinced about her chance.

One career win to his name; Thirsk 6f seller when on a favoured strip of ground (wore first-time blinkers). Winless since then (also had wind op), not disgraced earlier in the year including over C&D last time, now with a new yard, not ruled out.

Showed very little for David O'Meara in three 5f minor events throughout 2018/19. Showed her first form for this yard on her latest start at Wolverhampton (5f), shaped better than the bare result, needs to prove that wasn't a fluke back in a handicap

Forecasts

Seneca Chief (6/4), Our Man In Havana (4/1), Bernie's Boy (9/2), Swell Song (5/1), Chillon Castle (15/2), Lyons Lane (12/1), Monarch Maid (14/1), Terri Rules (14/1), Murqaab (16/1)

Verdict

An entire card of Class 6 events begins with an unappetising sprint from a betting perspective with some modest form on display. The penalised Seneca Chief got an ideal scenario last time out when taking a Wolverhampton handicap and despite the presence of pace setters like Swell Song and course winner Monarch Maid the same pace is guaranteed. OUR MAN IN HAVANA is proving consistent since moving to Tony Carroll and he may be finally rewarded for his efforts despite this being his first visit here. Murqaab off a basement mark isn’t one to rule out of what is a weak event.
  1. Our Man In Havana
  2. Seneca Chief
  3. Murqaab
