Newcastle regular; caught the eye under tender handling (by an apprentice) over this trip on his penultimate start; has eased 2lb in the weights for a moderate comeback fifth of ten to Sweet Celebration (1m2f); shortlisted.
Well handicapped on historic form (hasn't won since January 2019); was set plenty to do by his rider at Lingfield (7f) nine-days ago, finishing off nicely into a closing seventh of 12; return to this 1m trip in his favour.
Prolific on the AW (9-41) during his career, including four wins at Kempton Park (7f-1m); finished behind Glory Of Paris after weakening tamely (forced the early pace) at Lingfield (7f) nine-days ago; stablemate of The Warrior.
Most of his more recent successes have come on Tapeta at Dunstall Park Wolverhampton; sits 3lb above his last winning mark; form had tailed-off prior to the recent cessation of racing.
C&D winner (March 2017); twice successful over this 1m trip at Lingfield during the early months of the calendar year, rising only a nominal amount (4lb) in the weights; promising 3lb claimer booked to ride; stablemate of Holiday Magic.
Productive over C&D in the past (form figures here read 14133); wasn't beaten too far by Toro Dorado when placed off this mark in March; was declared as a non-runner at Leicester on Saturday evening (8.30pm); place chance.
Twice successful at this track (6f-7f) since October 2019, yet isn't always the most reliable of performers; finished in the rear at Chelmsford (7f) last week, so would need to come on quickly for that reappearance run; stamina at 1m?
Generally quiet since winning a Class 6 apprentices' handicap at Chepstow (1m4f, good) last September; finished sixth (immediately behind The Warrior) on debut for Tony Newcombe over C&D 12 days ago.
Forecasts
Aegeus (5/2), Takeonefortheteam (7/2), Glory of Paris (5/1), The Warrior (6/1), Holiday Magic (15/2), Critical Thinking (10/1), Bug Boy (14/1), Penarth Pier (25/1)
Takeonefortheteam has a decent record at Kempton Park (14133), so it isn't really much of a surprise that he's re-routed from Leicester, while the veteran The Warrior remains on a fair handicap mark when factoring in the 3lb claim of Cieren Fallon. However, the solution may just lie towards the top-end of the weights where both the well-handicapped Glory Of Paris and the dropped in trip AEGEUS lurk. The selection was somewhat of an eye-catcher at Newcastle (1m) on his penultimate start (tenderly handled by an inexperienced apprentice). The excellent Rossa Ryan takes over in the saddle today.
- Aegeus
- Glory of Paris
- Takeonefortheteam
