Transformed from his debut when switched to the AW for his second start at Chelmsford over 1m. Open to further progress returned to turf although he'll once again be back on a softer surface (ran on heavy for debut); penalty makes life tougher.
Overcame some inexperience to win on debut over 7f at Lingfield (AW), made all and responded well to pressure; looks an above-average recruit. Now has to prove himself under a penalty trying turf for the first time; ought to have more to come.
Newcomer, half-brother to a smart 2yo 5f winner (stayed 1m) Maqaasid and 5f winner Atyaaf; dam, twice-raced but closely related to some smart families. Yard had a recent 66-1 winner in an event like this with a similar profile; not written off.
Like many juveniles from this yard he probably needed the run on his only 2yo start at Newmarket (7f, good). Shaped better than the 14L he was beaten, likely to do better as a 3yo and one to note in the market.
One of seven newcomers in the field; half-brother to three winners including very smart winner at up to 1m I Can Fly. Dam, maiden, stayed 1m, half-sister to a couple of smart sorts. Should be suited by this test, interesting on debut.
62,000gns yearling who never ran as a 2yo; makes his debut (yard have a modest 10% strike-rate with runners of this type). First foal, dam US 1m turf winner, half-sister to smart winner up to 7f Magic America.
Once-raced as a 2yo (too green to do himself justice), finished well beaten over 6f at Newcastle on a slow track. Not knocked around he hinted at some ability, looks sure to do better in time; may need this, yard have been below-par since resumption.
Yard not known for their debutante runners in this sphere and despite being a half-brother to several winners this one doesn't look an obvious contender. Gelded for his debut he looks more of a long-term project.
Sir Percy gelding who looks one of the less likely types in this having cost just 13,000gns as a 2yo. Half-brother to 5f/6f winner The Big Lad and 5f winner Cultured Knight; dam 2yo 6f winner.
First foal ($17,000 yearling), dam US maiden, half-sister to US 1m1f turf winners Lifeline and Lady Pamela. Makes his racecourse debut, could well need this experience, others appeal more.
The sole filly in the field she has the look of one for the longer term having been slow away but not knocked about on her sole 2yo start at Wolverhampton over 6f. Never a threat her future may well lie in handicaps.

Daniel Deronda (9/4), Ajax Tavern (10/3), Newbolt (5/1), Baashir (11/2), Dark Spectre (9/1), Chairmanic (12/1), Innings (12/1), O'Reilly's Pass (16/1), Twisted Dreams (33/1), Magic Voice (50/1), Thomas Percy (80/1), Come On Linda (150/1)
Both of the penalised runners need to be respected and are liable to put their experience to good use. Newbolt scored nicely at Chelmsford and has to be feared back on turf but preference is for AJAX TAVERN who did well to overcome a wide draw on his debut responding well to pressure and staying on strongly to win over this trip. He looks to have progress in him and should make a bold bid to follow up. Outside of that pair most of the interest lies with the newcomers, the Hills stable having taken one of these races recently with a debutante Baashir who has to enter the argument. Daniel Deronda is another making his debut who should be noted, his pedigree indicating he could be useful.
- Ajax Tavern
- Daniel Deronda
- Newbolt
