5f winner on the turf track here 13 months ago and also scored over 6f at Epsom in July (rated 77). Mark is declining having faltered after that but suspicion he may need this first day back.

3-12 record overall but two of those have come on turf and does appear to act better on that surface. Spring form was nothing to shout about and does need to bounce back despite now being 3lb below previous win-mark.

Dual winner last autumn for Clive Cox but hasn't shown best form since joining this yard; broke blood vessel when last sighted at Southwell on New Year's Day. Bounce back not ruled out with the champ up.

Ran below form last time at Southwell in March but that was his Fibresand bow so can be forgiven; now 11lb below previous win-mark and had been shaping well enough previously. Tongue tie back on and interesting.

Boasts C&D-winning form but has gone 31 starts since 2018 without getting his head in front. Ran well enough in Wolverhampton claimer in March and far from inconceivable he can mark his 99th career start with a win in this line-up.

Mare was in good form on the turf back in the autumn including a win at Brighton (5½f, good to soft; 11-2). She has tended to need a run back from an absence however.

Forecasts

Grisons (9/4), King Robert (3/1), Irene May (9/2), Harrogate (5/1), Something Lucky (11/2), Firenze Rosa (25/1)

Verdict

Grisons has yet to show his best form since joining Robert Cowell but he's been given a break since a burst blood vessel at Southwell on New Year's Day and could do much better with the champion jockey booked. In truth, it's hard to be confident about any of this sextet and KING ROBERT gets a tentative vote. His penultimate run at Wolverhampton in a first-time tongue-tie (back on here) had some promise about it and he's readily forgiven a flop at Southwell since. He's 4lb lower here in a race that looks winnable. Former C&D winner Something Lucky should be in the shake-up.
  1. King Robert
  2. Grisons
  3. Something Lucky
