Debut winner of a fillies' novice event last season (6f, AW), but way below that level in two further starts. May be able to kick on again with a winter under her belt. In good hands, and not ruled out from this mark on handicap debut.

Showed steady improvement over his first four starts with Tim Easterby, winning at York and following up in a Pontefract conditions event (6f, good to firm) in July. Lost his way after and reappears for new yard having been gelded. Market check.

0-5 last year, but after being gelded he returned in February with an emphatic success when favourite in a Kempton novice event (5f, AW), which was an improved effort. Up 8lb for that, but if he can repeat or better it he still has claims.

Debut Brighton winner (5½f, good to firm) 13-months ago. Inconsistent in three further runs, but the best of them came when ½L second at Redcar later that month. Looks fairly treated for handicap debut. Interesting.

Got off the mark at the fourth attempt in a Beverely fillies' novice event (5f, good to soft) last August. Improved on that when 1L fifth in a Doncaster fillies' handicap in September. Initial mark looks fair, so keep an eye on the market.

Comfortable debut win at Thirsk (5f, good to soft) last August promised a lot more than he delivered in two further runs, when last on both occasions. Returns gelded and with a bit to prove, but a market check looks prudent.

Placed second in three of his seven starts, but remains a maiden. Not quite as attractively treated as one or two here, and it will be a surprise if he is ready to break his duck first time back in this field.

Scored at Yarmouth (5f, soft) on his second start last season, and also went close in a Beverley nursery (good to firm) in August (best effort yet), from today's mark. Held last two starts, but since gelded and not written off on return.

Dual AW winner over 5f in the winter months, the more recent being when 6lb lower. Beaten from just 1lb higher when last season. Good pilot up, but he does have a bit to prove on his return to turf.

Improved slightly on a good debut effort when scoring second time out at Beverley (5f, good to firm). Consistent despite twice being beaten favourite after that, and she can't be written off on her reappearance.

Forecasts

Galadriel (3/1), Sir Oliver (4/1), Triple Spear (7/1), Wonderwork (15/2), Vardon Flyer (17/2), Dear Power (9/1), Auckland Lodge (10/1), Iva Go (12/1), Tom Tulliver (14/1), Lady Quickstep (20/1), Hurstwood (22/1)

Verdict

Money for Triple Spear or Iva Go would probably be worth noting. Galadriel, Hurstwood and Sir Oliver are others who should be capable of having a say, but the suggestion is LADY QUICKSTEP, who proved she can win when fresh, represents a trainer in good form and looks fairly treated for her introduction to handicap company.
  1. Lady Quickstep
  2. Dear Power
  3. Sir Oliver
