Chepstow appears her home-from-home winning there three times in 2019 over 6f/7f, returned to win here from out of the blue on last turf start. Showed little on four AW starts back from a break early in the year; hard to see her getting involved.

Lightly-raced sort; won on 2yo debut (only race that year), progressed on all her runs last year (best run on handicap debut at Southwell, first run at 5f). 5f looked on the sharp side so a return to 6f may help off a mark that looks more than workab

Returned to winning ways over 6f on the July Course last year on his third handicap start (took advantage of a nightmare passage for the favourite). Failed to repeat that performance in two further starts; needs to bounce back on debut for new yard.

Still waiting for his second career win after taking a Goodwood novice on debut (6f, soft). Edged down the weights since going handicapping; signs that he could be nearing a second win from his last AW start in March.

Dual winner last year over6f/7f with his best effort coming at Chelmsford in November over the latter trip off a 2lb lower mark. Ran respectably on his only start subsequently; visor now swapped for cheekpieces, no great record off a long break.

In tremendous form from May - July last year winning five from six and clocking up a 5f Beverley four-timer under apprentice riders. Not seen since that purple patch but has won off a long break; has the assistance of a top 3lb-claimer on his return.

Improving filly who progressed with each 2019 start until failing to fire when last seen (recorded three sound 5f handicap wins). Hardly surprising if she continues her progress this year, stays 6f but yet to win at the trip, hard to leave out of the

Yard have a fine record with sprinters and he finally capitalised on some good efforts when winning at Doncaster in September in a slightly better grade than this. Remained in good form after, has won off marks in the low 80's; good record fresh.

Done most of his racing at longer trips but does appear to enjoy his sojourns to sprint trips (last two wins have come over 5f/6f). Ought to be competitive off this mark and back up to 6f, however his record fresh is a poor one, may need this.

Quirky sort who has the ability to win a race but continues to make life difficult for himself as shown by his last run at Chelmsford. Blew the start, took a fierce hold, ran on late; on a good mark but it will take a leap of faith to support him.

Yet to really fire for this yard having score twice over 6f last year including one success on the July Course. Blinkers now reached for first time (trainer no great record with that tactic); would need to see a return to form before supporting.

Forecasts

Magic J (13/8), Chairmanoftheboard (6/1), Saluti (7/1), Gold At Midnight (7/1), Texting (17/2), Commander Han (11/1), Ginger Jam (12/1), Boy In The Bar (20/1), Colonel Frank (22/1), Bungee Jump (33/1), The Night Watch (125/1)

Verdict

This looks a far more competitive division than it’s predecessor with several progressive types lining up. Magic J the most lightly-raced in the field ran well on his handicap debut and off a mark of 85 he ought to be able to make his mark but this is a very different surface. Texting appeals as the type to produce more as a 4yo but has yet to win at this trip. Ginger Jam had a stellar year in 2019 but does to overcome a 10-month absence and a career-high mark on his return. SALUTI has performed well fresh before and still looks well handicapped, he looks a value option in this tough sprint. Chairmanoftheboard is another interesting contender who could get in the shake-up.
