1000 Guineas heroine who bounced back to her very best last year, with three wins culminating with the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket. Best of these on form, but a 7lb penalty for her Group 1 win complicates her task somewhat.

Quietly progressive last year, and had several of these behind when winning a 1m listed contest at Newmarket on her final start. Penalised for that narrow success, and that makes her look vulnerable on her return.

Kept progressing in 2019, her four wins including a brace at this level at Lingfield (AW) in the autumn. Defied a penalty on final start, so no qualms on that score, and is well drawn. Seems sure to go close.

Improved to land a Goodwood handicap (1m, good/firm) in August, and took another step up when second in a listed event at Deauville in September. Not fully exposed, and should do better still given her steadily progressive profile.

Fifth in Irish 1000 Guineas for Richard O'Brien last year, but largely struggled in pattern company after winning her maiden. Could improve for a break and change of stable, but others have much more compelling claims.

Unplaced on all eight starts last year, but acquitted herself better than the bare facts imply and rarely disgraced in Group 3 company. Consistent on the whole, and could run well at a price.

Seemed to excel herself when beaten less than 2½L in the 1000 Guineas last year, but failed to maintain her form thereafter, and isn't easy to fancy on the balance of her 3-y-o form.

Smart juvenile in 2018, but bombed out on her only start last season. Hard to weigh up on return from over a year off, but her early promise means she can't be dismissed.

Sole defeat came on racecourse bow, and best effort last year when winning a 1m handicap at Newmarket by 6L on her final start. Likely to keep progressing, and much respected despite a very wide draw.

Took a while to click, but improved from summer on last term, winning two 7f handicaps and ran with credit in black-type events on her last two starts. Could progress again given her profile, and not taken lightly despite a tricky draw.

Won two turf handicaps at around this trip in August when first fitted with a visor, and ran at least as well when a neck second of 8 to Kuwait Currency over C&D on her final start. Steps up in class, but has more to offer.

Best effort for Clive Cox in 2019 when fourth in G3 John of Gaunt Stakes at Haydock. Has since joined a powerful yard for 230,000 gns, but her task here looks an uphill one on official figures.

Runner-up twice in German listed company last year for Jens Hirschberger. Usually a free-going front runner, and wears a first-time hood on debut for new yard. Something to find on form.

Dual winner as a 2-y-o in 2019, with her best effort a second in listed company at Newbury (7f) in August. Needs to improve on the figures to feature, but gets plenty of weight from her elders.

Forecasts

Scentasia (7/4), Billesdon Brook (7/2), Nazeef (4/1), Romola (10/1), Audarya (12/1), Posted (33/1), Viva Gloria (33/1), Foxtrot Lady (40/1), Agincourt (40/1), Natalie's Joy (40/1), Shepherd Market (50/1), Dean Street Doll (66/1), Iconic Choice (100/1), Sesame Birah (100/1)

Verdict

Billesdon Brook is the best of these, but she is lumbered with a big weight, and may struggle to defy a Group 1 penalty, for all she's likely to give her running. Scentasia also has a listed penalty, but she's already shown she can cope with that in similar company, and she is shortlisted, but preference id for her stablemate NAZEEF, who bolted up on her handicap debut at Newmarket when last seen, and is open to more progress than any of her rivals.
