Couple of falls in recent starts but got round safely and opened his chasing account at Gowran Park (2m4f) last time. Faces a tougher task on these terms, assuming the others run to form.
Yet to repeat the form of his second to Delta Work in Grade 1 novice chase at Leopardstown in late 2018 but wasn't entirely disgraced in useful handicap back there (2m5f) on latest outing. Has a 6lb penalty to overcome, however.
Not seen over fences since falling in the 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup but he's very useful and has leading claims on best form, including two Listed wins. Also warrants respect on recent achievements over hurdles, sixth in the Coral Cup latest.
Lightly-raced nine-year-old who possibly needed his comeback run this month, having been off for almost two years since falling in the 2018 RSA Chase. However, even a return to peak form would give him something to find with stablemate Bachasson.
Gradually finding some form since returning from long absence this year, tenth in the Plate at Cheltenham most recently. There is hope that this dual Grade 1 winner (hurdles/fences) is no back number. Respected on these terms.
Forecasts
Bachasson (4/6), Death Duty (2/1), Mortal (12/1), Discordantly (14/1), Bonbon Au Miel (25/1)
BACHASSON has a good chance at the weights returned to chasing and is taken to give Willie Mullins a third successive win in this contest. Death Duty still needs to show that he retains all of his ability but he is the biggest threat on peak form. Mortal also can't be dismissed.
