Yard often used to rejuvenate this owner's horses but he ran no sort race behind Drumconnor Lad at Ayr last time (jumped ponderously). Had some fair form when trained in Ireland off higher marks, headgear returns, fair bit to prove currently.
Cashed in on a reduced mark (6lb below his last win) to win at the first time of asking for this yard at Doncaster (2m3f, soft), found plenty for pressure. Run poorly both starts since, the latest over C&D when folding up very quickly.
Proved better than ever when going two places better than her previous start to record a career-best at Market Rasen (2m3f, good/soft). Appeared to be found out by the 7lb rise although running with credit last time over 2f further; same mark here.
Fair chaser in Ireland for Henry de Bromhead but has failed to fire for two GB yards and continues out of sorts. Pulled up over fences last time having stopped the slide to a certain extent off a lower hurdles mark time before; hard to make a case.
Dual back-to-back chase winner last year over 3m who has yet to add to that tally; may be in better heart than form figures suggest. Benefitted from a more experienced rider last time; below last winning mark, could do with a greater stamina test.
Sedgefield specialist (yet to win elsewhere); arrives in good heart having appeared to excel himself over C&D last time from 6lb out of the weights. Flattered by proximity to the winner but respected all the same; off his correct mark this time.
Forecasts
Lady Master (9/4), Frankie Ballou (3/1), Roxboro Road (4/1), King Golan (9/2), Well Smitten (8/1), Show And Go (20/1)
No real standout chances here with most of these entering the fray with questions to answer. Lady Master is a consistent sort but she may well struggle off this mark that looked to have defeated her last time although she does have a place chance. Frankie Ballou for all his recent consistency has yet to win away from Sedgefield and despite running well over C&D last time does look a little flattered by that run. Both Roxboro Road and Well Smitten have to bounce back from poor runs and that leaves KING GOLAN. He’s sure to benefit from Sean Quinlan (fresh from a Kelso treble) taking the ride again and although this trip looks on the short side he is well handicapped on his old form.
- King Golan
- Lady Master
- Frankie Ballou
