C&D winner in September 2018. Absent over a year but done well this term winning 3m heavy ground h'cap hurdle at Bangor in November and solid second off this mark at Doncaster last time. Conditions suit.
Veteran mare who has won over C&D in past, stays well and goes on most ground. Carries 7lb penalty for easy win at Plumpton last week in similar conditions so every chance she will go close again if in similar mood.
Jockey won this race 12 months ago. Won nicely at Aintree in October on seasonal reappearance off 2lb lower mark but hasn't been in same form in three starts since. Needs to raise her game.
Plenty of heavy ground form in early days but has seemed far better suited by sound surface in recent years. Eased 4lb after latest third at Market Rasen on soft ground and needs to bounce back.
Stayed on well penultimate start to land Plumpton 2m5f h'cap hurdle but got no further than first flight at Southwell last week where unseated rider. Fair chance if he stays extra few furlongs and picks his hooves up.
Sound surface needed to show his best form and landed hat-trick last summer on good ground. Badly out of form of late in the mud and pulled up last twice. Very hard to fancy in these conditions.
Off the mark over 3m at Southwell in October but hasn't really built on that in three runs since. Badly hampered though at Ascot in December and may not have stayed 3m2f at Warwick latest. Some grounds for anticipating better this time.
Won Exeter 2m2f heavy ground h'cap hurdle in January but didn't stay this trip back there last time when pulled up. Spokesperson said he needed better ground so has plenty on his plate here on that evidence.
Forecasts
Tambura (11/4), Ostuni (9/2), Mr Caffrey (11/2), Endless Flight (6/1), March Is On (6/1), Same Circus (8/1), Solstice Star (10/1), Tea Time Fred (25/1)
There aren't too many here who are expected to both stay and handle the very deep ground so TAMBURA has to have a good chance of following up last week's win under her 7lb penalty. She goes well in the mud and stays all day. Fellow top weight Mr Caffrey has a similar profile and is likely to be a big danger, while Ostuni is another threat if seeing out the trip. He won well over 2m5f the time before last then had a blip at Southwell last week when unseating at the first. March Is On hasn't had the best of luck of late and may well prove best of the remainder.
- Tambura
- Mr Caffrey
- Ostuni
