Running well in defeat since November and should have won a maiden hurdle over C&D in December when falling at the last when 2L clear. Beaten as odds on favourite when last seen in January and getting a little expensive to follow.

Well beaten in bumpers, hurdle races and failed to complete on last two starts over fences in January/February before failing to finish once again at Naas over 2m in a 7K maiden hurdle last month. Others preferred.

Gelded son of Arakan out of an unraced half-sister to Galway Plate winner Sir Frederick. Well beaten on belated hurdles at Fairyhouse last month before an improved effort at Gowran Park earlier this month. More needed.

Running with plenty of credit in a number of starts over timber since October. Chance in this company with adept claimer in the plate.

Gelding by Secret Singer. €50,000 3-y-o half-brother to Eragone, winner over hurdles and the larger obstacles racing between 2m1f and 2m3½f. Well held in a couple of bumper starts but not disgraced on hurdling introduction over C&D in December.
Winner of two of his 20 starts on the Flat with both victories when in the hands of trainer Mark Johnston winning over 1m½f and 1m1f. Solid effort for on second start for current connections going down by ½L to Port Stanley at Naas last month.

Sent off at big prices in four career hurdle starts so far before running accordingly on each occasion. Hasn't yet looked a winner in waiting.

Kalanisi gelding out of an Old Vic mare. Closely related to Flamingo's Court, winner over the larger obstacles at 2m and over hurdles at 2m4f. Worth a market check on debut.

Gelding by Shantou out of a Lord Americo mare. Changed hands for £15,000 at the Ascot sales 12 months ago. Well held in a couple of career starts so far including on return to action at Clonmel earlier this month finishing last of five over 2m.
Unsold €17,000 as a three-year-old son of Robin Des Champs. Closely related to Born By The Sea 2m1f winner over hurdles. No impression on leaders but not disgraced on hurdling debut in a Punchestown 2m½f maiden last month. Up against it.
Gelding by Flemensfirth out of an Oscar mare; cost €38,000 as a three-year-old. Solid effort on hurdling debut over C&D last month running Jungle Junction to 1¼L in a 21-runner maiden on heavy ground. Can be expected to improve.

Sholokhov gelding out of a Vinnie Roe mare. Dam unraced. Likely to be popular in the market for respected connections as he makes a belated debut over hurdles in this contest.
Below-par 56-rated handicapper on the Flat, the Pour Moi filly showed little signs of any ability in three starts over hurdles last term. First-time hood unlikely to spark improvement.

Daughter of Arcadio out of a Irish bred mare. Dam winner of a 2m3f bumper, her only win in eight career starts. Winner of a November point-to-point but not one to place a great deal of faith in on rules debut.

Caught the eye on hurdling debut when second of 15 beaten 11L behind the Willie Mullins-trained Dolcita at Tramore over 2m when last seen in December. Winner finished second of 22 in the Grade 2 Mares' Novices' hurdle at Cheltenham on Thursday.

Daughter of Dylan Thomas. Nothing of note in a couple of starts in bumper company since her debut in September. Appears to have a mountain to climb on hurdling debut.

Never a factor in a couple of initial starts over hurdles since her debut at Leopardstown in December. First time cheekpieces unlikely to bring about the required amount of improvement needed to play a role here.

Verdict

The trainer and jockey combination of Willie Mullins and Paul Townend can pick up where they left off at the Cheltenham festival in landing the opener with BLACKBOW. The seven-year-old can get off the mark over hurdles at the fourth time of asking for connections at the expense of the Jessica Harrington-trained Lynwood Gold who caught the eye when running Port Stanley to ½L at Naas over a similar last month. The Priests Leap produced a solid effort on hurdling debut over C&D last month running Jungle Junction to 1¼L in a 21-runner maiden on heavy ground and look capable of hitting the frame in this contest.
