French chase winner (2m3½f, heavy); has been running in some decent handicap hurdles of late without noticable success; ran fair race last time out over fences at Kempton; needs to improve his jumping.
Recorded his second victory over fences when winning a 3m handicap contest at Musselburgh (good-to-soft) in January; struggled off higher mark next time at Taunton and will need a couple to falter to score again.
Is 0-10 over fences but he has been running at a higher level than this, including on penultimate start when he went off as the 4/1 fav in a Grade 3 at Cheltenham; below par in that race and next time at Leopardstown but should be winning soon.
Front runner who has only had one run since August 2018 in which he was pulled up; talented at his best, he is difficult to assess here and the market likely to be the best guide.
Was a promising sort in his younger days but form declined after a positive start last season; latest run at Wincanton was not too encouraging and probably best watched on this occasion.
Was a fair handicap hurdler but was always going to be a chaser based on appearance; made his chase debut last time at Huntingdon and should be more professional here though this looks tough on only second chase start in a first-time visor.
Forecasts
Onefortheroadtom (5/4), Echiquier (2/1), Telson Barley (5/1), Shanroe In Milan (5/1), The Fresh Prince (20/1), Stowaway Magic (25/1)
ONEFORTHEROADTOM has been competing in much better contests than this and this could be a useful opportunity to finally break his maiden tag. The gelding was not totally out of his depth on his last tow starts at Cheltenham and if reproducing anything like that form he could prove hard to beat. Echiquier needs to improve his jumping but there was plenty to like about his run last time at Kempton and he may show some more improvement. Shanroe In Milan is fairly inconsistent but does have ability if everything goes his way. He will need both the two selections above to run below par to win.
