100/1
Won a couple of races on the Flat many moons ago but has been struggling for a long time including on the AW; difficult to see him being able to win this on debut.

Ballymacaw121
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: R P Treacy(3)| T: J Halley| D
6/1
Kilbeggan bumper winner in July, ran well in defeat on hurdling debut in a Tramore maiden in August over 2m5f, finishing third of 12 beaten 1½L.; not exactly built on that in three runs since.

Horse silk
Big Debates14
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: Phillip Enright| T: R Tyner
20/1
Sholokhov gelding out of a Lecroix mare; well beaten in two hurdles encounters to date and needs to show plenty more to be involved even at this lowly level.

Horse silk
Champagne Paddyt17
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: Donagh Meyler| T: R P Cody| OR:  112| D
16/1
Five career runs have been punctuated by long absences. Last of 14 when last seen in a Punchestown maiden hurdle over a similar trip; not in the form required to play a part.
5
Horse silk
10/1
Made an encouraging start to his career when he was second of seven in a bumper at Ballirobe (2m1½f); two reasonable efforts at Down Royal and Navan over hurdles suggests he is going the right way; one to consider.
6
Horse silk
50/1
Gelded son of Arakan out of an unraced half-sister to Galway Plate winner Sir Frederick; well beaten on belated hurdles at Fairyhouse in February; entitled to improve and possible place possibilities.
Didn't show a lot in a pair of Galway bumper in the autumn and showed not much more in four spins over hurdles (unseated last time); hard to see him being good enough.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: Paul Townend| T: W P Mullins| D
1/4
French bred €50,000 Denham Red gelding won only point-to-point prior to joining top yard.: placed on bumper debut before winning next time at Thurles; excellent chance if translating form to hurdles.
9
Horse silk
12/1
Quite well-bred and offered plenty to work on when sixth of 17 to Envoi Allen in maiden at Down Royal on hurdling debut; found little next time out but deserves another chance; wears first-time tongue-tie.
10
Horse silk
66/1
Gelding by Milan out of a Topanoora mare; closely related to six-time winner Milan Bound; will be better for debut run at Clonmel in late February but may still not be good enough on balance.
11
Horse silk
20/1
Related to some useful National Hunt types; finished midfield on hurdles debut at Cork in July and similar story following break at Naas last month; open to improvement.

Iridescent128
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-12| J: D J Mullins| T: J Fogarty
100/1
Two poor efforts at Galway and Clonmel last October did little to advertise his potential; easy to look elsewhere on the evidence of those runs.
13
Horse silk
33/1
Slowly gaining experience but does not look likely to come out on top on the basis of his three runs to date; finished 17th of 20 earlier this month at Leopardstown in similar contest.

Forecasts

Energumene (1/4), Ballymacaw (6/1), Coolagh Park (10/1), Exultation (12/1), Champagne Paddy (16/1), Big Debates (20/1), Glendruid (20/1), Jessica's Boy (33/1), Daring Disciple (50/1), Four Horsemen (66/1), Duca Di Milano (100/1), Iridescent (100/1), Amlad (100/1)

Verdict

ENERGUMENE won a point-to-point before winning his bumper at the second time of asking. The French-bred gelding is well regarded and should have the class to land this contest which is notable for not having too many potential winners. Exultation disappointed after a promising start to his hurdle career but maybe the fitting of a tongue-tie could be the key to seeing him get back to the form he showed on his debut behind the smart Cheltenham hopeful Envoi Allen. Coolagh Park ran well in his bumper last May and looks to be slowly getting the hang of things over hurdles.
  1. Energumene
  2. Exultation
  3. Coolagh Park
