5/1
12-race maiden (0-5 on the AW); in truth, ought to prove capable of winning a race or two on the Flat from this kind of mark; given a short break (52 days) since weakening into the ruck over hurdles at Doncaster (2m½f, soft).

Rated 5lb higher than when winning at Newcastle (1m) in January - beat Lukoutoldmakezebak by 1¼L; made his presence felt when a close third to the reopposing Daafr (now 2lb worse off) here (1m½f) a fortnight ago.

Ex-Mick Easterby; won for the first time for Mark Loughnane when springing a 33-1 surprise here (1m½f) in November, beating Star Of Valour by 1¾L; lost many lengths at the start when finishing behind Daafr and Al Ozzdi latest; risky.

Held on determinedly when winning on soft ground at Ayr (1m2f) last October; didn't really get to grips with hurdling thereafter (0-4) and is probably just finding her feet again on the level; couldn't be totally discounted.

Was winning for the third time at Dunstall Park when well on top in the closing stages over C&D on her penultimate start; slowly away and met trouble in the run when down the field (behind Iconic Code) latest; stablemate of Daafr.

Ex-John Gosden; finally exploited an easing handicap mark when scoring at odds of 11-1 here (1m½f) a fortnight ago (Al Ozzdi a close third and now 2lb better off); stablemate of Beatbybeatbybeat.

Bar a single blip, has proved reasonably consistent since winning by the narrowest of margins at Chelmsford (1m) in October; wouldn't necessarily appear to have too much in hand from the assessor; place claims at the very best.

Age: 5|  Weight: 9-5| J: T Eaves| T: M Herrington| OR:  63
25/1
Dual Dundalk Polytrack winner (1m) for Joseph O'Brien; has fallen 17lb in the weights since joining this trainer (0-5) for 11,000gns; recent form is wholly uninspiring; look elsewhere with confidence.

Thunderoad28
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: Hollie Doyle| T: A W Carroll| OR:  58| BF
5/2
Consistent 19-race maiden; has kept solid form so far this calendar year, including when beaten ½L by a stablemate of Daafr and Beatbybeatbybeat (Traveller) over C&D in January; Hollie Doyle is a positive jockey booking; holds every chance.

Forecasts

Thunderoad (5/2), Daafr (5/1), Kings Royal Hussar (5/1), Guvenor's Choice (6/1), Al Ozzdi (8/1), Roller (8/1), J'ouvert (16/1), Beatbybeatbybeat (16/1), The Game Of Life (25/1), Iconic Code (33/1), Coral Queen (50/1)

Verdict

Daafr got first run on Al Ozzdi (third) when winning a similar contest here (over 1m½f) a fortnight ago but you couldn't be wholly confident that he will confirm that form over an extra furlong on 2lb worse terms. Iconic Code and Beatbybeatbybeat (a stablemate of Daafr) would both enter the equation on the basis of some of their stronger efforts, while Kings Royal Hussar ought to find a race or two on the Flat from this kind of mark. However, with Hollie Doyle in the saddle for an in-form trainer (Tony Carroll) this could finally be the day for the consistent maiden THUNDEROAD to deliver the goods.
  1. Thunderoad
  2. Al Ozzdi
  3. Beatbybeatbybeat
