Took on some classy sorts in novice hurdles and was far from disgraced in the process, but a poor effort on handicap debut at Kempton leaves a few questions to be answered. Cheekpieces now given a try, and this is easier.

Not beaten that far in a couple of novice hurdles this winter and opening mark looks workable, but needs to prove herself on heavy ground and it was a poor effort at Taunton when last seen.

Only had the three starts but definite signs of some ability at Exeter latest, not given a hard time in finishing sixth; opening handicap mark fair enough and this is not a strong contest; watch the market for a clue.

Had shown very little before springing a 20-1 surprise over C&D back in December but followed that up with a poor effort at Market Rasen last time. Hopes pinned on a return to this venue, but others preferred.

Far from disgraced in a pair of novice hurdles at Ludlow and then came good back on the Flat at Wolverhampton last month. Change of headgear here and he has chances if handling this deeper ground.

Not seen out since pulling up at Newton Abbot last spring (was made favourite), well enough handicapped if you want to go back far enough but likely to need this after such an absence; trip probably on the short side too.

No win in 38 starts immediately sets alarm bells ringing, but his second at Wincanton last time is as decent a piece of recent form that most of these can muster, and it would give him hope. Change of headgear today could help.

Some decent form in novice hurdles back in 2018 (on much quicker ground) but downhill since then and was never in it here last time, pulled up (sent off 100-1). Tongue tie now tried but not hard to look elsewhere.

Not disgraced on Chepstow debut behind the useful Nordano but has shown next to nothing in three starts since then. Young enough to improve but in truth, now needs to.

Went close at Uttoxeter last September (good ground) but overall profile is not that convincing , although her staying-on 16l third at Taunton last time wasn't a disaster; place chances if handling the conditions.

Little to cheer about in five starts so far and has been pulled up on both his handicap starts so far; may want better ground given stamina concerns (best around 7f on the Flat) and can only be watched.

Forecasts

Kerb Line (7/2), Vanderbilt (7/2), Another Tuco (7/1), Big Chip And Pin (7/1), Freedelivery (7/1), Timassini (8/1), Arctic Snow (12/1), Frau Georgia (18/1), Khanisari (25/1), Finvarra (28/1), Twpsyn (33/1)

Verdict

This is weak, to say the least, and good recent form is thin on the ground. With that, a chance is taken on the unexposed KERB LINE, who caught the eye when sixth in a decent contest for the grade at Exeter last time, and will surely have more to come now going handicapping. The ground is a worry for Twpsyn but at least he's got his head in front recently, and if he handles conditions, should have a chance. Timassini and the long-standing maiden Vanderbilt both have place chances, as does Freedelivery if a return to Ffos Las perks him up a bit.
  1. Kerb Line
  2. Twpsyn
