Promising over timber last season, including in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham; hasn't happened in three starts this season; most recently over fences at Punchestown 12 days ago. Tough ask at these weights.
Came from France with tall reputation and easy Kempton win on first run for Nicky Henderson in December 2016 appeared to confirm ability; winless since and only fleeting positives; off 469 days ahead of debut for new trainer.
€3,000 yearling; third foal; dam placed French 2m1f hurdle, half-sister to French 2m1f hurdle winner Vanessa out of 1m2½f winner; market may guide on first outing.
Couple of wins over fences last season; likeable frontrunner has been toiling this term however. Interesting on these terms if finding some of the old enthusiasm for the switch to hurdles.
Plenty promise after joining Dan Skelton from France back in 2015/16 season but missed 935 days at one stage and yet to show much enthusiasm in three runs for new connections.
Has twice run well in graded contests at Naas and Gowran Park in recent weeks and potentially finds a very presentable opportunity to gain first win since chasing bow in November 2018; leading contender.
Useful mare over hurdles/fences at best; had her share of setbacks but enjoying a busy campaign this time and was a Listed Limerick winner in October against her own sex (2m6½f, heavy; 14-1). Well held since over fences, falling last time.
Forecasts
Mengli Khan (11/8), Jetz (9/4), Listen Dear (9/2), Charli Parcs (7/1), Got Trumped (16/1), Espion Du Chenet (33/1), Kasakh Noir (50/1)
Jetz can be dangerous if thriving back over timber and getting into a rhythm out in front while the long-absent Charli Parcs is a fascinating runner on his first start after departing Nicky Henderson's yard. The market should prove very informative for him. Listen Dear is enjoying her racing this season and was a Listed winner against mares in the autumn, she's got sound claims if no worse for a fall here chasing four weeks ago. MENGLI KHAN wasn't far short of some top novices last season over fences and appears to be finding his feet back over timber. He's had two pleasing runs in Grade 3s of late under Luke Dempsey and they may gain their rewards now.
- Mengli Khan
- Jetz
