Looked a shadow of the horse who was twice placed for Fergal O'Brien over fences in the summer of 2018 off this mark when returning after a long absence over hurdles. Hard to make much of a case for him based on that performance.

In good heart over hurdles since being returned to this sphere he's still to win over obstacles. May have found the race coming too soon last time (looked awkward) at Wetherby but worth another chance in this sort of company/ground.

In good form since returning from wind surgery mainly over fences but continued that level of form over hurdles last time given a significant test at Sedgefield (3m3f, soft). Off his last winning mark for last three starts; should go well again.

Still to find the form that he displayed when he was with David Pipe he found the drop in trip (2m) against him last time out. Lurks just 1lb above his last wining mark but he may not handle ground this testing; would have to step up on recent effort

Ran with credit without looking a winner in waiting prior to having wind surgery last summer. Failed to build on an encouraging return after surgery last time when looking a hard ride at Taunton (2m3f, soft); hard to recommend on that run.

Age: 7|  Weight: 10-11| J: Ben Godfrey| T: P C Dando| OR:  85

Brought along with care in novice hurdles with the expectation that he would do better in handicaps. As yet he's failed to produce the anticipated progress in handicaps although this will be the furthest he's tried so far; hard to believe in.

Came alive on her second start in handicaps returned to fences off a lowly mark staying on well to land a gamble in testing conditions at Ffos Las. Both starts since have disappointed with the yard seemingly hitting a lull; needs to find old form.

12/1
Course winner over slightly shorter who looks significantly well handicapped if he could rediscover his old form. Shaped better than his form figures last time over fences Taunton; would be of interest if he could find some spark.

Yet to really make his mark over hurdles having had a wind op two starts ago. Well backed on handicap debut but failed to improve over a staying trip at Doncaster in heavy ground; still relatively unexposed, dropped 4lb worth another chance.

Forecasts

Kilcrea Bridge (5/2), Hang Tough (11/4), Sergeant Brody (5/1), My Lady Grey (7/1), Beau Haze (8/1), Mogestic (12/1), Truckers Cailin (12/1), Sissinghurst (33/1), Cockney Seagull (33/1), Ourmullion (50/1)

Verdict

A mixed bag in this staying handicap hurdle with Kilcrea Bridge given another good opportunity to get back on the scoresheet after running consistently well of late although he wouldn’t be winning out of turn. A fair few of these need to regain some of their earlier form and one in particular would be interesting if he did and that’s the well handicapped Mogestic who ran better than a non-completion over fences suggests last time. A positive market move for him would be interesting and that would also be the case with HANG TOUGH who is the least exposed in the field and taken to make amends for a moderate run at Doncaster last time. Sergeant Brody is another who could have a part to play.
  1. Hang Tough
  2. Kilcrea Bridge
  3. Mogestic
