Twice finished runner-up in bumpers in late 2018, including when beaten 2½L here by the strapping Corrieben Reiver; was beaten 9L (fourth) on handicap hurdle debut at Sedgefield (2m3½f) on Boxing Day.
Made short work of his three rivals when landing the odds in a C&D jumpers' bumper in March 2018; arguably slightly regressive over fences since scoring from a mark of 122 at Wetherby (1m7f) in October; still shouldn't be discounted.
Won a chase (2m4f, yielding) in Ireland last season, when with Noel Meade; form tailed off thereafter and moved on for £20,000 (May 2019); tailed-off (pulled up) on debut for this trainer at Kelso in October; cheekpieces go on.
6-21 career (successful on his first two starts over fences; Ludlow & Catterick); has left the care of Henry Oliver since finishing a well beaten third to the fortunate winner Hell's Kitchen at Carlisle (2m, soft) in November; market helpful.
Has really struggled over fences since returning from wind surgery, and is easing in the weights as a result; finished in the ruck when reverting back to the smaller obstacles at Doncaster (2m½f, soft) in mid-December.
Broke the maiden tag at the 35th attempt (third start over fences) with a determined effort in the Tant Pis at Hexham (1m7½f, heavy) in December; flopped here next time, and is difficult to fancy in a bumper.
Progressive through the early months of 2019; in command when left well clear at the final fence in a four-runner Class 3 handicap chase here (2m7½f) last March; worth chancing on his first competitive start for 303 days?
Won three times over hurdles last season (at or around 2m on good/good to soft), rising in excess of 20lb in the handicap as a result; well below that level of form in two starts this season; risky on balance.
Notched a four-timer in 2019 (2m1f-2m4f) and even in defeat has continued on a upward curve in recent starts; was keeping on steadily without ever landing a blow on the winner (Annsam) at Catterick (2m3½f, soft) four weeks ago.
Driven right out to break his duck over fences at Wetherby (2m3½f, soft) in early December, and posted another positive effort (second) at Carlisle the following week; less aesthetically pleasing over 3m at Musselburgh latest.
Set some stiff tasks over hurdles since joining the Borders based trainer Alistair Whillans; comfortably held third to Overthetop and Prince Kayf in a 2m4½f novices' hurdle here (soft) in January.

An open looking affair in which plenty can be given a mention. The market should offer an indicative guide as to the chances of Louis' Vac Pouch on debut for Phil Kirby (also saddles Suggestion). The veteran Trapper Peak continues on an upward curve for Justin Landy, but whether or not he has the speed to win a bumper at the age of eleven is surely debatable so the returning Special Prep is probably a better alternative. However, despite becoming a shade disappointing over fences lately, we'll elect to chance the previous C&D jumpers' bumper winner BALLYVIC BORU.
