Point and bumper scorer left modest hurdles debut behind when scooting clear by 8L in 2m3½f Doncaster novice latest. Penalised for that but looks the sort to keep improving as he goes up in trip so highly respected.
Lightly raced but showed significant improvement latest when an 8¾L third to One Touch over 2m3½f. That rival carries a penalty here so expectant that he can get a great deal closer today.
Point-to-point winner was a promising fourth of 16 on debut at Chepstow and ran to a similar level when third of 15 over C&D next albeit beaten 20L. Again ought to at least make the frame.
€45,000 son of Flemensfirth half-brother to bumper and hurdle winner King Of Firth and hurdle and chase scorer Little Boy Boru. Market will be informative but jockey booking suggests he may need the run.
Showed some ability in bumpers here and at Wincanton in finishing fourth and third respectively but well beaten on hurdles debut at Newbury albeit in an above average novice. Step forward needed to be involved.
50/1 third of 10 at Doncaster last time out was comfortably his best effort in four starts (two bumpers, two hurdles) although he will have to improve further to make the frame today.
Second season novice who won his bumper here in 2017 finished second for the third time over hurdles at Chepstow latest after 287 days off. Entitled to come on for that run and his form last season stands out; big player.
Course bumper winner placed in all three starts since sent hurdling. Shade disappointing when odds-on second at Leicester last time out but looks sure to make a bold bid here.
Son of Jeremy bought for £100,000 after winning Boulta point-to-point in November. Interesting recruit worth noting in the market on Rules debut.
Daughter of Kalanisi cost £30,000 after winning third and final point-to-point in Ireland. Upton Road looks the more likely of the point recruits.
Scored for the first time in seven attempts in point-to-points on her latest outing at Necarne (3m) but never able to go the gallop and eventually pulled up on Rules bow at Ludlow. Makes no appeal here.
Finally completed here last time (first time in three starts) yet tailed in a remote 11th of 12. Makes next to no appeal even with two additional pieces of headgear.
Forecasts
One Touch (11/4), Firak (3/1), Trincomalee (4/1), Kingsplace (9/2), Demachine (10/1), Hawk's Well (14/1), Upton Road (20/1), Flemings (28/1), Jaytee (50/1), Boomtime Banker (66/1), Frilly Frock (100/1), Mags Melody (100/1)
It will be a tough ask to give weight away all round here with several useful novices in opposition but the manner in which ONE TOUCH powered clear at Doncaster last time out suggests he will be up to the task. The biggest dangers look to be Kingsplace who kept some good company last season and twice finished second before filling the same slot on return and Trincomalee who has two thirds and a second over hurdles after winning his bumper here.
- One Touch
- Kingsplace
- Trincomalee
