In-form sort who is gunning for a hat-trick after following up 6f win at this track to score at Lingfield (6f; standard) just 11 days ago. Raised another 4lbs in the weights, but has won off higher marks in the past.
One of the more lightly raced sorts in this contest, and he took a step in the right direction after a string of heavy defeats to finish third at Newcastle (5f; standard). Claims if able to build upon that, & sole career win came over C&D.
It may well be that his Lingfield (5f; standard) victory was a fluke given he posted a poor effort when last seen, and he was in dreadful form prior to that. Good strike-rate on the AW (4-15), but he needs to show marked improvement to feature.
Patchy profile of late which has mostly been filled with quiet efforts. Half-a-length runner-up C&D two starts ago, but has since failed to back that up. 4lb below last winning mark, but not showing any signs of taking advantage of that.
Out of form recently, and her mark remains 3lb above her last winning one which came over C&D. Has won off higher marks in the past, but that was almost four years ago. One to oppose for now until offering more encouragement.
Produced a pretty underwhelming display on handicap debut back in May. Not seen since, but is surely worth another chance in this grade given the fair amount of promise he showed in maiden/novice company. Lightly raced and unexposed.
Scored over 6f at this track back in December, and bounced back from poor penultimate run to be placed at Kempton (5f; standard to slow) last time out. Can be inconsistent though, and there a couple of unexposed rivals up against him.
Runs off the same mark as he did when runner-up at Southwell (5f; standard) recently. That was a much improved effort after his recent exploits, and he scored off this mark in November. Likely to be competitive.
Forecasts
Tabaahy (9/4), Knockabout Queen (3/1), Qaaraat (5/1), Equally Fast (6/1), Precious Plum (10/1), Creek Harbour (14/1), It Must Be Faith (16/1), Empty Promises (66/1)
A few of these can be ruled out for win purposes, but it would be unwise to dismiss Qaaraat altogether who is on a handy mark, and finished a respectable second last time out. Similar comments apply to Empty Promises who ran too bad to be true on his handicap debut, and something must have gone amiss then given he hasn't been for 271 days since. The sole success of Tabaahy's career came over C&D, & he produced an improved effort when placed last time out. However, we'll stick with ROUNDABOUT QUEEN who is clearly the most in-form contender in the line-up. She is arguably still well treated and can deal with another rise in the weights to make it three in a row.
- Knockabout Queen
- Tabaahy
- Empty Promises
