Failed to build upon encouraging seasonal reappearance run when finishing down the field at Chepstow (2m3f; heavy) recently. 14lbs below last winning mark, but he doesn't look ready to take advantage. Drop back in trip poses a question mark.
Took a backwards step earlier this month when pulled-up at Wincanton (2m5f; soft). Had previously outran odds of 50-1 to finish third on debut for this stable at Ludlow. Drops back to 2m for the first time since November 2016.
Unexposed sort who was put firmly in his place by the upwardly-mobile Lightly Squeeze at Wincanton (2m; heavy) on Boxing Day. That form has since been franked by the winner. Unlikely to bump into one of that calibre in this contest. Major player.
Shown no improvement for the switch to this stable. Record under rules stands at 0-16, and he reverts to hurdles for the first time since May 2018. Well-beaten over fences at Hereford (2m; heavy) last time out. Others have much more going for them.
0-3 on 'soft' ground, and was never involved over C&D when last seen in early-November on what was his seasonal reappearance. Plenty to prove off just a 2lb lower mark, and he is readily opposed.
Yet to win a race over hurdles in 17 attempts, but wasn't completely disgraced when finishing sixth in what was a typically competitive handicap at Newbury (2m; soft) last month. Place claims at best off unchanged mark.
Poor run of form has continued since she has returned to the track in two starts this season, and she trailed in 12th of 12 at Newbury (2m; soft) last month. Dropped down to her last winning mark, but has masses to prove at present.
Beaten a total of 25-length into third on handicap debut at Southwell (1m7f; good to soft) in June. Not seen since, so fitness worries on return from 213-day break. Yard enjoying a 35% strike-rate currently, & he may have improved for his wind op.
Took advantage of falling handicap mark to score over C&D earlier this month. Only been put up 5lbs for that success, and he has been competitive off higher marks in the past. Firmly in the mix.
Beaten a very long way on handicap debut at Hereford (2m3f; heavy) recently. Others have achieved far more than her though, and she doesn't hold any form which would entitle her to feature. Best watched.
Forecasts
The Raven's Return (5/2), Jaisalmer (10/3), Megalodon (9/2), Bardd (8/1), Corri Lindo (10/1), Finula (10/1), Made For You (14/1), Our Rockstar (20/1), Asking A Lot (33/1), Macksville (40/1)
The form of THE RAVEN'S RETURN'S recent second to Lightly Squeeze has since been well advertised by the aforementioned horse who has since gone onto score in emphatic fashion twice since then. There doesn't look to be anything as obviously well treated, and so this unexposed Scorpion gelding can regain the winning thread. Next best looks to be Megalodon who bounced back from being in the doldrums to win over C&D earlier in the month. He has only been raised 5lbs for that so shouldn't be ruled out. Meanwhile, Made For You disappointed when making a poor handicap debut back in June, but a subsequent wind operation offers room for him to bounce back.
- The Raven's Return
- Megalodon
- Made For You
