Dual 7f winner for Mark Johnston and off the mark for current handler when appreciating the blinkers and battling to neck C&D win last month. Raised 3lb but another bold show looks highly likely.

Tremendously consistent at this kind of level and has finished in first 4 on 13 of last 14 starts. Two wins from last three outings have come over C&D including last time where finished strongly. 3lb higher and has solid claims.

C&D winner at this meeting 12 months ago off 1lb lower. Not at best last two starts over 6f and return to this trip will help the cause. Needs to bounce back but cannot be ruled.

Solid placed efforts last two starts and runs here off same mark. Yard having a fairly quiet time at present and likely he may find one or two too good yet again.

Multiple sprint winner in his time and stepped up to score over 7f at Wolverhampton recently, winning with a bit to spare. Runs off same mark so every chance he will be very competitive here now he's proven his stamina.

Only success in 24 attempts came on racecourse bow at Salisbury 7f in 2017 when trained by William Knight. Backed last time to make winning debut for new yard but reared at start and lost all chance. Worth looking out for market interest yet again.

First-time visor applied in the hope this mare can add to her sole previous win which came back in 2016 over C&D. Has shown little form of note for well over two years and has crashed down handicap. Well beaten in Wolverhampton seller last time.

Forecasts

Prince Rock (5/2), Axel Jacklin (11/4), Billyoakes (9/2), Brockey Rise (5/1), N Over J (7/1), The British Lion (10/1), Conqueress (33/1)

Verdict

Of the three last time out winners, northern raider BILLYOAKES makes most appeal having comprehensively proved he stays when winning well at Wolverhampton earlier this month. Unpenalised for that apprentice race success, he can go in again. Top weight Axel Jacklin and the ultra-consistent Prince Rock both come here following victories and are feared, while N Over J was heavily backed last time but missed the break. A retrieval mission is not out of the question.
  1. Billyoakes
  2. Prince Rock
  3. N Over J
