Sprung a 20-1 surprise when beating his much better fancied stablemate Moonraker (no fluke) over 5f here on New Year's Day (Fibresand debut); 4lb higher in a theoretically weaker race (Class 4); stays this 6f trip without any problems.

Five-time course winner; back on the right track with an improved effort (second) over C&D 12 days ago - beaten 1¾L by the Ruth Carr-trained Katheefa; this race is arguably more competitive with a number of recent winners in the line-up.

Headed inside the final half-furlong when beaten 1L by Fizzy Feet on debut for Mick Appleby (also saddles Airshow) at Lingfield (6f); excuses (met trouble) when a beaten favourite at Wolverhampton next time; beaten by Zylan on sole Fibresand start.

Beat Sunday's winner Al Suil Eile when successful over 7f here on his penultimate start; disappointing when racing keenly in difficult conditions (very windy) on Monday; drops back in trip and that's considered to be a helpful move.

National Anthem (11/8), Airshow (7/4), Zylan (11/4), Private Matter (11/4), Kamra (9/2)

Verdict

Much depends upon exactly who elects to take their chance with both Private Matter and National Anthem (a winner) in action here on the Fibresand as recently as Monday. The conditions were tricky on that occasion (very windy) and might feasibly have counted against the keen-going Private Matter. National Anthem could have plenty more too offer for David Brown (2-2 here in 2020) but under a 5lb penalty, it's equally true that he's facing his sternest assignment to date. Therefore, we'll favour the New Year's Day 5f course winner AIRSHOW who drops back into a theoretically weaker race (Class 4 handicap) off a perfectly fair 4lb higher mark.
  1. Airshow
  2. National Anthem
  3. Private Matter
