Genuine sort who desperately lacks consistency in some of his starts on the AW here. Without success in 12 starts at this venue and one to oppose.

Well held and never nearer in a couple of starts at this venue including one over C&D last month. Former David Marnane inmate the gelding appears to have a mountain to climb.

Winner over 7f at this venue in October 2018 but infrequent visits to the track will not be helping the colt to progress in the game. Yard have a 25% strike rate at this venue in the first two weeks of the year since 2016.

Seven-race maiden, below-par performances on turf and the AW for trainer Sylvester Kirk. Down the field on stable debut over C&D last month. First time hood unlikely to bring about the required amount of improvement needed to play a role here.

Solid and consistent sort winner over C&D on three occasions from four starts over the combination. Successful over 7f last month off an 8lb lower mark but capable of yet another bold bid.

Eighth of 14 well held on sole start over C&D in May 2018. Struggling in a number of starts on turf over the summer and difficult to make a case for here.

Without a win in nine starts to date. Down the field on a number starts in the last month and others have more scope for improvement as the daughter of Big Bad Bob makes her AW debut.

Forecasts

No Needs Never (4/5), Yuften (9/4), Bowerman (10/3), Annie Fior (9/1), Basrah Breeze (50/1), Mere Ironmonger (66/1), Wave Walker (66/1), Hey Pretty (100/1)

Verdict

Trainer Joseph O'Brien can build on a 25% strike rate at this venue in the first two weeks of the year since 2016 with his No Nay Never colt NO NEEDS NEVER. The four-year-old shaped well on his latest start at Naas in April finishing second behind Imaging in the Grade 3 Gladness Stakes. The Adrian McGuinness-trained Bowerman can run a big race for a yard with a a 26% win and place strike rate in the last four years at this venue in the first couple of weeks of the new year. C&D winner Yuften can once again run well and merits plenty of respect.
