Son of Yeats made winning start over C&D in November and found only one too strong back here last month under 7lb penalty. Should have a leading say again.
Came through with good challenge in home straight to score debut success over C&D (15-2) in November. Penalised for that win and more on his plate here.
Twice finished fourth over C&D in as many starts so far, in races where Northern Poet has finished first/second; improvement demanded to bridge the gap.
Foxwedge gelding. Half-brother to useful 5f winner Threave. Dam 1m winner. Worth a check on debut with Jonjo O'Neill booked to steer.
Fame And Glory gelding was runner-up on debut in soft-ground Catterick bumper in November (form solid) and has changed hands since. One to pay attention in betting.
Runner-up in good-ground Warwick bumper in May on debut, didn't build on that in next start at Southwell (soft) in October but may do so now having had wind surgery since. Capable of better.
Not devoid of promise in two starts in Ireland for Grade 1-winning trainers, has moved to Ian Williams and retains the tongue-tie sported 85 days ago on previous outing.
€60,000 three-year-old Born To Sea gelding. Half-brother to three winners, including bumper winner/fairly useful hurdler Holding Pattern. Represent Nicky Henderson and needs close monitoring.
Dam, point winner/lightly raced in bumpers/over hurdles, half-sister to bumper winner/useful hurdler (2m winner) Tramp Stamp. Sports tongue-tie/hood on debut.
£50,000 three-year-old, Geordieland mare. Half-sister to useful hurdler/fairly useful chaser Close House. Won sole start in Irish point-to-point back in March.
Kendargent gelding is a half-brother to five winners on the Flat, including useful 6f-7½f winner Dschahan. Likely comes on for first run.
Casamento gelding. Dam 1½m winner. Yard amongst winners lately and Bryony Frost has excellent strike-rate (19 per-cent) riding for this trainer over previous 12 months.
A £3,000 three-year-old, Intello gelding; he's a half-brother to eight winners on Flat, including useful 6f/7f winner Indignant. Sports tongue-tie on first start.
Shaped nicely in pair of Huntingdon bumpers earlier in the season over shorter, son of Mastercraftsmen could have more to come.
Forecasts
Northern Poet (5/2), Surf Walk (4/1), Kemble's Cascade (7/1), I Hope Star (8/1), River Tyne (8/1), Steelcraft (11/1), If Karl's Berg Did (12/1), Osprey Call (16/1), Long March (20/1), Ace Time (33/1), Blimey Charlie (33/1), Mucho Talento (33/1), Duisburg (50/1), Wetanwindy (66/1)
Newcomer Surf Walk is respected for the Nicky Henderson team but NORTHERN POET is a C&D winner already and ran well under the penalty next time. He should give another strong account here despite the weight concession and his form looks more reliable than that of fellow track and trip scorer Osprey Call. If Karl's Berg Did is another to be noted starting for new connections along with Steelcraft in a decent race.
- Northern Poet
- Surf Walk
- Steelcraft
