Took a step forward from Chepstow (2m7f; soft) reappearance last month when second to Cobolobo at Haydock (3m1f; soft) most recently. Mark remains the same here, and he won this race last year off just 2lb lower so has solid claims.
Bounced back to form with an encouraging second at Ludlow (2m5f; soft) recently. Up 2lb, but still looks quite well-treated judged on his 2016-2017 form. Looks highly likely to make a bold bid.
Shed his maiden tag over fences at the seventh attempt in some style when scoring by 13-length at Lingfield (2m7f; heavy) at the start of the month. Needs to find more up 9lb, but couldn't have done that any easier. One of the main players.
Good run of form came to an end when he was pulled-up at Plumpton (3m4f; soft) before four out when sent off favourite (13-8f). Won over C&D back in January 2018, but he needs to show vastly more than he did last time out.
4lb below last winning mark, and he took a step back in the right direction when a staying-on third at Ffos Las (3m1f; heavy). Needs to build upon that which won't be easy at his age, and the stable could also be in better form.
Looks a horse transformed for the switch to fences and followed-up chase debut success with a fine third over 2m4f at this track last month. Completely unexposed and should have a major role to play.
Dropped a further 3lb by the handicapper for finishing a remote third at Southwell (3m1f; heavy) 16 days ago. That was a step back in the right direction though and his sole chase/career win came at this track last year.
Was struggling prior to being pulled-up four from home at Wetherby (2m3f; soft) earlier this month. Now makes handicap debut as he steps up markedly in trip. Only had the four starts under rules so isn't a forlorn hope but needs to show much more.
Pulled-up on chase debut when tailed-off at Worcester (2m7f; soft) back in September. Had shown nothing prior to that in four runs over hurdles, and he looks to have an unenviable task in this contest. Impossible to make a case for.
Forecasts
Seaston Spirit (10/3), The Ogle Gogle Man (9/2), Gatacre Street (5/1), On The Road (11/2), Big Meadow (8/1), Rollerball Rocco (8/1), Brandy Pad (8/1), Cruising Bye (18/1), Go Hard Or Go Home (28/1)
After he got off the mark over fences in impressive style when a 13-length scorer at Lingfield recently, Seaston Spirit should be competitive once more. Gatacre Street has shown marked improvement for the switch to the larger obstacles, and posted a good run when third over 2m4f at this track last time out. He has claims off an unchanged mark. Last years winner of this race The Ogle Gogle Man looks to be returning to form and should be back in the winners enclosure soon enough, but ON THE ROAD looks the one to be on today. He went into the notebook when running his best race for some time in second at Ludlow recently and is 16lb below his last winning mark.
