Well held on hurdling debut in a Downpatrick maiden over 2m3f in July before falling at the last when trailing the field at Thurles last month. Remains easy to oppose.

5/4
Showed fairly useful form when winning a bumper at Punchestown in February. Encouraging third of 19 on return to action over C&D last month and looks more than likely to improve on that effort here.

100/1
Schiaparelli gelding. Dam modest 2m1f-2m5f hurdle winner. Last but one on hurdling debut in a Galway maiden on soft ground in October and needs quite a few others to run below par to have a chance in this.

100/1
Kalanisi gelding out of a Hector Protector mare. Closely related to three-time winner over hurdles Jo Go racing between 2m7f and 3m½f. Market likely to be the best guide on hurdling debut.

66/1
By Intikhab out of a USA bred mare. Dam won on the Flat over 1m2½f. Worthy of a check in the market on hurdling debut as post time approaches.

Horse silk
14/1
Appeared to be improving in the spring of 2018 before a desolate effort at Clonmel in May last year. No impression at Limerick when last seen 12 months ago. Market likely to reveal expectations on return to action.
Gold Well gelding out of a Kahyasi mare. Dam, winner of a 2m bumper on soft ground. Co Waterford yard are 13 from 86 with their maiden hurdlers this term.

Well bred son of Milan impressed in his third and final point-to-point before joining this highly respected yard. Will need to improve on wretched hurdling debut finishing 76L adrift of Alpine Cobra at Punchestown last month.

£225,000 purchase. Third in listed bumper on Rules debut to subsequent star performer Envoi Allen in February. Has since won a similar Limerick contest in March before a third of 11 on hurdling debut at Gowran Park on yielding ground in October.

100/1
Below-par 20-race maiden on the Flat for trainer David Nagle. Jumped poorly on maiden hurdle debut at Thurles last month and unlikely to be troubling the judge at the business end of proceedings.

Joshua Webb15

5/1
Winner of a bumper over 2m at this venue before a creditable ninth of 25 on hurdling debut in a Fairyhouse maiden over 2m on soft ground last month. Not to be taken lightly stepping up in trip.

Gelding by Golden Laird out of a Mister Lord mare. Pulled up on sole point-to-point start in March and unlikely to be getting off the mark at the first attempt over hurdles in this contest.

Wajaaha9
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-8| J: Danny Mullins| T: D Hogan

Eight-race maiden on the Flat. Well beaten in couple of hurdling exploits since October. Others hold stronger claims than this New Approach gelding.

Et Dite36
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-5| J: Paul Townend| T: W P Mullins
9/2
Won two bumpers in France including a Grade 3 contest in August 2017. Fourth of 16 when running well in defeat on first start for over two years in a Naas maiden hurdle last month. At the right yard to make vast improvement.

Forecasts

Dinny Lacey (5/4), Run Wild Fred (11/4), Et Dite (9/2), Joshua Webb (5/1), Last Minute Man (14/1), Mr Hendricks (50/1), Low Lie The Fields (50/1), I Often Wonder (66/1), Lord Lariat (66/1), Wajaaha (80/1), Hardcore (100/1), Bintheredonethat (100/1), Friary Land (100/1), Stadius (100/1)

Verdict

Trainer Willie Mullins holds a 25% strike rate with his maiden hurdlers this term with a 50% win and place strike rate with those runners having their second start in the discipline. The mare, ET DITE can get off the mark over hurdles following a pleasing hurdling debut at Naas over 2m3f last month and can hold off the attentions of the Jessica Harrington potential improver, Dinny Lacey following an encouraging third of 19 on seasonal debut over C&D last month. The Noel Meade-trained Joshua Webb and Run Wild Fred in the ownership of Gigginstown House Stud should not be taken lightly having designs on prize money in this contest.
  1. Et Dite
  2. Dinny Lacey
  3. Run Wild Fred
