10/1
62-rated seven-race Flat maiden for Charlie Hills. No impression on hurdling debut after two out keeping on one pace to finish eighth of 14 beaten over 17L at Punchestown on soft ground over a similar trip last month.

80/1
Fell at the first on hurdling debut in October before finishing down the field in a Punchestown maiden over 2m½f on soft ground late last month. Not in the form required to play a part.
Well held in a couple of starts on the Flat with Ger Lyons. Pleasing effort on hurdling debut in October at Galway has been followed by a couple of encouraging runs at Fairyhouse and Punchestown last month. More needed but enters calculations.

16/1
Finished fifth of 16 beaten over 16L on heavy ground on hurdling debut in a Gowran Park maiden last month before a similar effort at Cork earlier this month. Not one to be putting a line through.

Fair form on the Flat for Dennis Horgan though only one claiming race win for his efforts. Improvement needed on his first couple of starts over hurdles for current connections if he is to play a part in this contest.

100/1
Canford Cliffs colt out of a Dylan Thomas mare. Bargain basement, 45-rated handicapper on the Flat well beaten over 16L on each of his starts running between 5f and 1m4f. Best watched on this occasion.
69-rated handicapper on the Flat, the Morpheus gelding has been well held in a couple of initial starts over timber despite finishing positions. First time hood unlikely to bring about the required amount of improvement needed to play a role here.

33/1
Desperate form on the Flat in seven starts since joining current connections in May. Unlikely to be making a significant impact on hurdling introduction.

9/10
76-rated, five-race maiden on the Flat for trainer Amy Murphy. Pleasing hurdling debut to finish third of 15 beaten 14L behind Aspire Tower at Punchestown on soft ground last month. More to come.
No impression from two out on hurdling debut debut in a Gowran Park 2m maiden on heavy ground last month. No surprise to see an improved performance here.
11
Horse silk
50/1
60-rated handicapper on the Flat. No impression from two out on hurdling debut in a Gowran Park 2m maiden on heavy ground last month behind Dinard Rose. Improvement likely.

14/1
Second on hurdles bow last month albeit a 33L second a promising enough effort for this very ordinary Flat performer, before pulling up just after the start due to a slipping saddle at Punchestown last month. Not to be taken lightly.
Four-race maiden on the Flat. Weakened before the straight on hurdling debut on soft ground earlier this month. Jockey indicated his mount was carried out by a loose horse before pulling up before the last. Plenty to prove.

Horse silk
66/1
Below-par 50-rated Flat handicapper who failed to hit the frame in nine starts. Well beaten and never a factor on hurdling debut at Punchestown last month on soft ground over a similar trip. Others look more convincing.

Forecasts

Wolf Prince (9/10), Instant Return (5/2), Brawny (10/1), Top Line Tommy (14/1), Majority Share (14/1), Millford Sound (16/1), Nobel Joshua (25/1), Wee Jim (33/1), Dragon's Pass (33/1), Faerie Laws (50/1), Pretty Fantasy (66/1), Starbella (66/1), Futurum Regem (80/1), Stay In (100/1)

Verdict

The Gavin Cromwell-trained WOLF PRINCE wouldn't have to improve too much to land the spoils in the opener. The Pour Moi gelding should improve enough to see off the attentions of Instant Return for trainer Jessica Harrington with the Elzaam gelding having to settle for a minor honour once again. The Gordon Elliott-trained Brawny should improve on his debut at Punchestown last month while Dragon's Pass and Milford Sound could go well for each-way punters.
  1. Wolf Prince
  2. Instant Return
  3. Brawny
