Victorious for the sixth time in all when winning over this trip at Brighton two starts ago. Returned from a little break at Kempton three weeks ago, finishing seventh (beaten 6¾L). Usual cheekpieces removed and consistency isn't a strongpoint.

Just collared by a horse in great form at Southwell (7f) two weeks ago and has been in good form in recent months, barring one run on very testing ground. Will need a career best here but hard to knock his consistency.

Ungenuine but talented gelding, and back to winning ways at Newmarket (6f) in May, and one or two decent efforts since, including last time at Kempton when beaten 3L into eighth. Hard to trust, but handles this surface, if he fancies it.

Prominent racer whose form figures here read 311, including when winning last time. Travelled strongly that day and up 3lb for a neck win and, whilst more is needed, still seems to be improving.

Showed good AW form for Roger Varian, including winning at Kempton (6f) three runs ago. Bought for 38,000 gns in October and makes his debut for a yard having their best ever year. Positive market vibes should be noted.

Rattled off a hat-trick (6f/7f) earlier in the year and bounced back to form after a quiet spell here (7f) when second last time, beaten ½L. Cheekpieces applied that day have been removed and back up 1lb, needs to put his best foot forward.

Dual 7f AW winner in his younger days for Marco Botti, he also won over 1m in Ireland last year for Ger Lyons. He hasn't beaten a rival in two starts for this yard (7f/6f) and can't be recommended on the back of those efforts.

Landed a huge gamble at Kempton (6f) in February by 8L. Recorded a good time and the form has to be taken seriously. Showed up prominently over 7f here last time after a break and should appreciate the drop back to 6f on handicap debut.

Ran poorly at Lingfield (6f) 12 days ago, finishing last of eleven. Ran well to be beaten a neck over C&D the time before but losing streak now up to 13 and this opposition might be too tough.

Forecasts

Martineo (3/1), Spirit Of May (7/2), Revolutionise (4/1), Young John (6/1), Sandridge Lad (8/1), Eye Of The Water (8/1), Suzi's Connoisseur (10/1), Storm Over (10/1), Double Up (10/1), Red Alert (16/1), Cockney Hill (16/1), Omran (25/1)

Verdict

A tricky sprint handicap in which COCKNEY HILL is the pick to make a winning handicap debut. He hacked up at Kempton in February, clocking a good time in the process, and should come on for his return run here five weeks ago. Spirit Of May has a good record at this course and continues in good form whilst Double Up is just too well-handicapped to overlook back in calmer waters under Adam Kirby.
