His sole success came at Wincanton (1m7½f) in April 2018. Has been well beaten on his two starts this season, including last time at Kelso (2m7½f) when he was pulled up. Down in trip but others are preferred.

Remains a maiden after nine starts under Rules but he has hit the frame on three occasions. Could only finish fifth of seven at Hexham (2m) on his latest outing in what was his first run for his new yard. Up in trip which should help his chances.

Won a bumper at Hexham (2m) back in March. Showed some promise on his first run over hurdles at Kelso (2m5f) where he was runner up. Has been well held on his last two starts. Down in trip and tongue-tie is on for the first time. One to consider.

A two-time winner at Bangor in 2017 but has not added to his tally since. Finished fourth of 11 at Sedgefield (2m4f) on his latest outing. Is down 2lb in the weights. Can't be ignored from this mark.

Broke his maiden over hurdles at Ayr (2m4½f) in October 2018 but has not followed that up since. Was fifth of 11 over this C&D on her latest attempt. Cheekpieces are on for the first time. Needs to improve on her recent form.

Failed to score on the Flat in 14 attempts. She is still a maiden after eight appearances over hurdles. Her last performance at this course (1m7½f) suggests her first win is not far away as she was second of nine. Up in trip. Big player.

Prevailed over hurdles for the first time in her career at Southwell (2m4½f) four starts ago. She was a long way down the field last time at Wetherby (2m3½f) when she was seventh of 14. Others appeal more.

A modest Flat runner who switched to hurdles back in October where she has had three attempts since without success. She hit the frame on her first two runs, while last time she came back fifth of nine at Ayr (2m4½f). Has each-way claims.

Finished third of 13 at this course on her hurdles debut over 1m7½f. Was disappointing last time over that same C&D as she could only finish sixth of 12. Up in trip now which should help her chances. One for the shortlist.

Won over this C&D back in March but has not followed that up since. Recent performances have been bellow his best. He had just one runner behind him in a 10 runner field at Musselburgh (3m) on his latest bid. Others are preferred.

Forecasts

Shetland Bus (3/1), Sidi Ismael (3/1), Cousin Oscar (5/1), Gemologist (11/2), Keep The River (6/1), Frame Rate (17/2), Pammi (12/1), Maulesden May (22/1), Princess Nearco (22/1), Choix Des Armes (28/1)

Verdict

GEMOLOGIST has been much better since jumping hurdles and he was not far away last time around this course when he was second over a shorter trip. This new distance should help his chances of recording that first success on the track. Sidi Ismael is a bumper winner who has performed well around this trip so expect to see him bounce back from a couple of disappointing efforts recently, while Maulesden May has been crying out for a stiffer test so expect an improve performance here.
  1. Gemologist
  2. Sidi Ismael
  3. Maulesden May
