Sky Sports Racing Handicap Chase

Off time: 14:45 | Winning time: 5m 44.30s

Instant Replay^p²⁷

Age: 7| Weight: 11-13| J: Henry Brooke| T: B Ellison| OR: 122| CD

3/1

3-7 at this venue including one success over C&D. May have found heavy ground against him last time at Kelso and better judged on previous second here over 2m3f off this mark. Expected to be thereabouts once again.

Form: 2150-24

Twasn't The Plan^h,t¹⁶

Age: 6| Weight: 11-9| J: Alan Johns| T: Tim Vaughan| OR: 118

7/1

Frustratingly runner-up in five of last six starts and may not be the heartisest of battlers. Raised 2lb since latest near miss and handicapper appears to have his measure at present.

Form: 232222

Manwell^t¹⁴

Age: 9| Weight: 11-8| J: Jonathan England| T: S England| OR: 117

7/1

Won at Wetherby and Catterick over this trip in January and has been eased total of 6lb following to moderate runs so far this campaign. Back to more feasible mark now though and appeared not to stay 3m1f last time.

Form: 1244-64

Ratfacemcdougall¹⁶⁵

Age: 6| Weight: 11-8| J: Max Kendrick⁽³⁾| T: D Killahena & G McPherson| OR: 117

9/2

Landed Hereford novices hurdle last term for Ben Case and makes debut for new yard here on first attempt over fences. Hasn't run for 165 days and just two previous runs over fences, showing ability on first occasion.

Form: 4181-3P

Virnon¹⁸

Age: 8| Weight: 11-1| J: Adrian Heskin| T: Mrs S J Humphrey| OR: 110

12/1

Eight-time winner across both codes. Scored over 2m4f at Southwell a year ago off 5lb lower mark, and should be better for two runs back from summer break. Jockey booking catches the eye and is worth a market check.

Form: 012P-U4

Calivigny^v²³

Age: 10| Weight: 11-0| J: Mr Kit Alexander⁽⁵⁾| T: N W Alexander| OR: 109

7/4

Has won three times in last 12 months, twice over fences, and over hurdles last time at Ayr. Clearly in good heart at present but is 5lb higher than last winning rating and isn't getting any younger.

Form: 345P-31

Forecasts

Calivigny (7/4), Instant Replay (3/1), Ratfacemcdougall (9/2), Manwell (7/1), Twasn't The Plan (7/1), Virnon (12/1)

MANWELL looks a likely sort for this event now he has had a couple of runs to get back into the swing of things. He didn't stay a longer trip last time and off a 4lb lower mark can make them all go. Instant Replay loves it round here (3-7) and is a danger if on song so a bold show is anticipated from him, while the other four all have a chance with Ratfacemacdougall and Virnon possibly set to do best of that quartet in a fair race.
