Looked a stayer of real promise two seasons ago but has presumably had problems since then with only two runs which have been very disappointing and can only be watched for now.

Really consistent sort and showed his wellbeing when third on what was previously thought to be unsuitably soft ground at Ludlow on latest. Back on a sound surface now and should again run his race although this looks tougher.

Finished last season with two wins over hurdles at up to 2m4f and showed enough on chase debut at Chepstow to suggest he will make his mark in this sphere with that experience under his belt though has to prove he stays this far.

Won on his first go over fences a year ago but after several solid efforts, he ended last season on a low and first run this campaign needs improving on with stamina to prove as well.

Last seasons campaign finished early and was entitled to need his Exeter comeback run. Becoming well treated now and with yard in better form could be worth noting if any support comes for him.

Was coming back from an 18 months break but recent chasing debut at Huntingdon was hugely encouraging when fourth in a race which is already working out. Yet to race beyond 2m7f but well treated on that form and more to come.

Trip and ground are fine and ran another solid race when 10L third to the progressive Touck Kick at Fakenham last time. Bit more needed against improving types but should again run his race.

Finally off the mark at Haydock in April but recent efforts have been very disappointing and overall profile remains unconvincing so readily passed over.

Unsuitability soft ground when just touched off in weaker race at Wetherby last time and although the return to better ground now will help, others have more improvement to come on paper.

I See You Well27
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: J McGrath| T: J W Mullins| OR:  117

Plumpton win a year ago but has gone badly off the boil since and hard to make a positive case for on recent evidence.

Won here in 2017 but just the one win since. Ran as well as could be expected on unsuitably soft ground last time and although he will like the conditions, he does need to eke out some improvement.

Coopers Square19
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-11| J: James Nixon(5)| T: T H Weston| OR:  110| D

Improved 33lb when winning five races at around this distance last season showing a tremendous attitude, and recent comeback second should sharpen him up. No reason why he shouldn't have another fine campaign and one for the short list.

Has followed his Fontwell win in June with a trio of placed efforts but now 8lb above that last winning mark and others make more appeal in a strong race for the grade.

Three wins in 2017 but struggled to add to that and no better after a wind operation over hurdles last time. Should at least strip fitter but others make more appeal.

Gamely followed up his Newton Abbot win to follow up at Exeter last month and clearly has taken well to front-running tactics. 5lb rise not a concern but this is a much stronger contest.

Forecasts

El Presente (11/4), Above Board (9/2), Copperhead (6/1), Coopers Square (10/1), Cesar Et Rosalie (11/1), Air Navigator (11/1), Findusatgorcombe (12/1), Mahlermade (16/1), Fingerontheswitch (20/1), Guerrilla Tactics (20/1), Bermeo (22/1), Marble Moon (25/1), The Happy Chappy (25/1), I See You Well (33/1), Indy Five (50/1)

Verdict

EL PRESENTE ran a cracker on recent chase debut at Huntingdon in what looked a strong contest and providing this doesn't come too soon for a horse who had been off a long time prior to that, he can take advantage of what appears to be a lenient mark. Copperhead is another who is lightly raced over the larger obstacles and should have plenty more to come with the admirable Coopers Square looking best of the rest.
  1. El Presente
  2. Copperhead
  3. Coopers Square
