Yet to win in nine starts and in truth, only progressing slowly over fences; finished a well-beaten second at Worcester last time when made favourite, weakening out of it late, and although still relatively early days, you'd like to see a bit more.
Good effort at Lingfield latest considering he'd been off for eight months, running an improver to 3l when third to Pres, the step up in trip seemingly helping. Wouldn't need much more than that to be a threat here, and holds a solid chance.
Too many placing for comfort now, and as a result of that isn't getting a lot of help off the handicapper either. Tends to alternate good runs with bad ones too, and overall profile suggests he'll find something too good again.
Latest win at Huntingdon came rather out of the blue, as he went off 14-1 and won by 17l, but there appeared no fluke about it and despite a 10lb rise, conditions fine again and no reason for him not to go close if repeating.
Reverts to fences after a couple of mixed efforts over hurdles, second at Stratford but couldn't back that up when favourite at Southwell last time. Well handicapped these days but needs to be on a going day, it seems, and that's not guaranteed.
Second off this mark at Worcester last November is a run that wold give her a solid chance here, but there were some mixed efforts after that and she has a bit to prove after an absence. Conditions ideal though, so has to be considered.
Came back off a break to score with a bit in hand at Ffos Las last month, a run which would give her every chance from 8lb higher today, but she's not always followed up a good run with another and that makes her slightly less appealing.
Turns to fences after just the seven starts in bumpers/hurdles, and although there's been a modicum of promise shown on more than one occasion, this is a hot little race and he'll need to be good to score at the first time of asking.
Forecasts
Elite Garde (3/1), Arqalina (7/2), Colonel Keating (7/2), Rizzardo (7/1), Dorado Dollar (17/2), Agent Memphis (9/1), Broughtons Rhythm (12/1), Leskinfere (33/1)
Arqalina and Elite Garde were both successful on their latest starts and both hold decent chances of the follow up, although Arqalina wouldn't be a good thing to run to the same level again, as she has sometimes disappointed after a good run before. Elite Garde looks the more likely of the pair but with a run under his belt, COLONEL KEATING might be able to beat the pair of them. He ran with great promise at Lingfield and a repeat of that takes him close. Rizzardo needs to improve but is young enough to do so.
- Colonel Keating
- Elite Garde
- Arqalina
