Course winner who has hit the frame over C&D. Gallant runs in defeat in the early part of the year have left the Dark Angel gelding 14lb higher than last winning mark.

Three-time winner at this venue the gelding boasts a win and a couple of place efforts over C&D from nine starts over the combination. Not disgraced here last month and first-time blinkers expected to assist.

Winner of two of his 18 starts over C&D. Genuine type whose travelling style usually negates a bold bid often meeting trouble in running at the business end of proceedings.

Winner of three of his 18 starts at the track and has been once again running with credit in a number of starts here since October. Worth a check in the market on C&D debut on second start for current connections.

Running well in defeat in a couple of starts at this venue over 1m last month. Well held on sole start over C&D in October and may need a couple to falter in this contest.

Losing sequence is growing and recent efforts have been fairly laboured. Encouraging stable debut over 7f here in October before a further disappointing effort over 6f here last month. Needs to take a big step forward to get competitive.

Not disgraced in a couple of initial starts at this track, making his debut on the surface in October. More needed and first-time cheekpieces unlikely to produce a positive response.

Winner of three of his 29 Flat starts on turf with his last success coming in a Cork 1m handicap in May last year. Well down the pack on sole start over C&D four years ago. Others look more convincing.

Six-race maiden generally well held when never a factor in a number of starts on this surface. Hasn't looked a winner in waiting in a couple of starts since September.

Hasn't won since a C&D success in 2017. Not disgraced in a number of efforts at this venue last winter and best checked in the market as the Manduro gelding makes his polytrack return.

Landed a beach/AW double in September with a couple of hard fought victories over 6f/7f. Has continued to run well in defeat including when finishing third of 14 over 1m last month. May be capable of better still.

Boasts a record of three wins from 18 starts at the track but is yet to get off the mark in a couple of starts over C&D when in the care of trainer Adrian McGuiness. Could be of interest on stable debut.

Far from disgraced in a number of starts at this venue since September including finishing 5¾L adrift of the winner over 1m here on Friday evening. Yet to hit the frame in three starts over C&D and others preferred.

Verdict

A wide open contest where the tough and genuine BILLYFAIRPLAY is taken to land the spoils on return to action. The Dark Angel gelding has gone well on a couple of occasions previously when coming back from a break of 99 days or more. The five-year-old was in good form around here last winter and can return to winning ways at the expense of C&D winner Sevenleft who was last seen on the beach at Laytown in September and Tennessee Wildcat on his first start for new connections since leaving the Adrian McGuinness yard. Trainer Denis Hogan saddles three in the race for owner James McAuley. All should be noted in the betting as post time approaches.
  1. Billyfairplay
  2. Sevenleft
  3. Tennessee Wildcat
